‘Person of Interest’ may just be in the final season. The 13 episodes will probably mark the end of the series. CBS has only ordered a season of 13 episodes instead of the usual 23 episodes, and this is making the fans speculate that Season 5 might be the last season of the iconic sci-fi crime drama series.

The cast and crew recently revealed that this season will be pretty much straight forward. The first few episodes will chronicle the changes in Machine as Finch and Root will bring it back to life. The Machine will obviously evolve in unexpected ways and take the other characters by surprise. Root will also be forced to choose between Shaw and the Machine. The first few episodes will bring on a spate of surprises for the viewers and the characters alike if the rumors are to be believed.

Vcpost also reports that ‘Person of Interest’ season 5 will mostly zoom in on how the two master class hackers will bring the Machine back to life. The insiders say that the Machine is slated to evolve into a more powerful incarnation next season. And this strange development will lead many characters including Finch and Root to marvel at the coming events. Also the main characters will have to figure out how to make that evolution happen.

Even though the director denies the rumor that this may be the last show for the season, he was positive that the upcoming season will “feel like the end” to the viewers. The director, Jonathan Nolan told people at a comic con that the decision to continue with the show or end the show will remain with the people at the CBS Network.

Amy Acker, who plays Root, told the press that her character feels conflicted about the Machine and Shaw. She said, “That’s been a struggle because they are both priorities to her. At the end of last year, she ultimately had to decide that if she didn’t do everything to save the Machine, there’s no purpose to saving Shaw. That’s kind of what point we’re at: Without the Machine, there’s no happiness in the world anyway.”
