Even though “Mad Max: Fury Road,” is a far better movie, “Pitch Perfect 2” has beaten it because of the brand recognition.
People recognized “Pitch Perfect 2” because of the first movie which deeply embedded itself in the minds of moviegoers. “Mad Max: Fury Road” is relatively new, even if it was a remake of an old film with the same title.

Because of the statistics and fan following of the first film that grabbed $65 million domestically in its entire run, it was estimated that “Pitch Perfect 2” will get an opening in the range of $50 million but from the weekends reports, it seems that the film has broken every record.
