Pitch Perfect 3 will not just bring the acapella tunes, fans will also see some explosions. According to Anna Camp, the upcoming movie is going to shift genres from a light-hearted comedy to a high-octane action flick!
Not Just Singing and Dancing
The first two Pitch Perfect movies are tough acts to follow. Collectively, both movies grossed over $400 million at the global box office. The previous movie also saw the Barden Bellas graduate from university and settle into their new lives.
Apparently, things are going to turn for the worst. Instead of dealing with normal post-graduate lives (such as unemployment), the Bellas are in for blood-pumping action.
Speaking to Elite Daily, Camp, who recently married her Pitch Perfect co-star, the upcoming movie is going to be a hell lot different from its predecessors.
“It’s definitely a lot of singing, a lot of dancing, as usual, but there’s a lot of action in this one and we see a couple of explosions,” the actor revealed. “I don’t want to give anything away, but we’re definitely singing for our lives. Like, literally singing for our lives.”
Universal is yet to release the plot of the upcoming movie, but based on Camp’s statement, things are going to be a lot more intense. While the girls are now out of college and have entered the real world, something will bring them all back together. Then, craziness will ensue. Moreover, the movie star divulged that there is going to be a change in scenery.
“Yeah, it’s totally different from the first movie when we were just singing in school gyms when we were filming,” Camp shared. With the continuous success of the movie series at the box office comes a bigger budget and, therefore, grander sets. Camp teased the more luxe lifestyle of the Bellas in Pitch Perfect 3. “This time they built an entire yacht and we’re jumping into this huge pool of water, so it’s going to be nuts,” she said.
A Larger Role For Aubrey
And while her character Aubrey had a smaller role in Pitch Perfect 2, fans will be glad to hear that she will have more screen time this time around. The 34-year-old assured that she will be on-screen a lot more frequent mostly because whatever will happen in the movie has something to do with her uber rich dad.
“The third one I’m definitely in way more than the second one,” she revealed. In the previous movie, Aubrey only appeared briefly as the camp moderator of the Lodge of Fallen Leaves. In the next movie, she will be travelling with her friends.
Pitch Perfect 3 Movie Details
The upcoming movie will also feature Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson, Hana Mae Lee, Alexis Knapp, Kelley Jakle, Ester Dean, Matt Lanter and Elizabeth Banks. Hailee Steinfeld, the newcomer from Pitch Perfect 2, also rejoined the cast. Ruby Rose of Orange is the New Black and John Wick 2 also signed up for a still undisclosed role.
Trish Sie replaced Banks as the director. Camp revealed that the new director offered a fresh new experience to the movie series. Under Sie, she said there is a lot more freedom that resulted to improvised scenes. Out of the three movies, the third is the most improv-heavy. “We kind of got to do whatever wanted and she gave us a lot of freedom, so I think it’s going to be really really funny,” Camp promised. Kay Cannon who penned the first two movies also returned to the third installment.
Pitch Perfect 3 will land on the big screen on Dec. 12.
