The episode pick up from where the last episode ended. Inside the Federal Powers Containment Facility, or The Shaft, Johnny Royale (Noah Taylor) discovered that Wolfe (Eddie Izzard) had broken out of his restraints, and was eating people again. He then begged Royale to kill him instead of bringing him to a remote place, but Royale failed to do so.
Back at the club, he instructed Simons (Aaron Farb) to get Calista Secor (Olesya Rulin) and to make arrangements as they had to leave right away, after realizing that he had committed a grave mistake. However, Calista was out in the car yard with Krispin Stockley (Max Fowler). Afterwards, Royale brought her to his safe place, and was about to leave her, when she got upset at him for doing so. He then revealed to her that it was his fault that Wolfe was once again unleashed in the world as every time he visited Wolfe’s cell to get material for the drug, Sway, he allowed Wolfe’s body to heal faster. He then explained to her that he thought that he could manipulate Wolfe’s blood chemistry to help those with lesser powers become more powerful, but he had failed. Calista then persuaded him to do the right thing, and to fulfill what Wolfe had wanted-to be killed, and promised to wait for him always.
As news broke out that Wolfe had escaped, Retro Girl (Michelle Forbes) decided to concentrate on evacuating people out of the incoming hurricane’s way; Zora (Logan Browning) waited for her agent to tell her that it was okay to go there to pretend that she had saved the day; and Krispin and Chaotic Chick (Shelby Steel) planned to put out another statement that those who were ordinary like them weren’t powerless.
Meanwhile, Detective Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) blamed himself for his failure to convince Calista to come with them, while Detective Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward) blamed it on Retro Girl.
As soon as they learned of the situation at The Shaft, they joined the rest of the Powers Division and the central command. There, they learned that Royale had been visiting Wolfe for months right under their noses without them realizing it. Triphammer (Andrew Sensenig) then showed Walker “The Drainer”, and told them that the plan was to make sure that Wolfe didn’t consume anyone with powers, and to drive him to his cell, where Triphammer would install The Drainer. However, as Wolfe tripped the fuse board, the entire team had to run on back up energy.
Wolfe managed to consume several of the Powers Division, including Captain Cross’ (Adam Godley) partner.
Meanwhile, Walker, in an attempt to save the day, took some Sway, which he kept, just in case. This caused him to have horrible headaches, and caused him to throw up in one of the cells. While he tried to recover, he told Deena that during the massacre, the day he had lost his powers to Wolfe, that during the attack, Wolfe had actually stopped for a second and begged him and Royale to kill him, but instead, he had just captured him. Deena then left him as he was going to be of no use to her, but he ended up locking her inside a cell so that he wouldn’t lose anyone else that was close to him.
Royale, however, thanks to Calista, decided to do the right thing and teleported again into Wolfe’s cell. However, as The Drainer was activated inside, he discovered that he was losing his ability to teleport out.
Walker then ran into Wolfe, who, because of his headaches, thought that he had been thrown into the shaft as well. Whenever Walker had his headaches, he discovered that he could see what Wolfe was seeing- a field with flowers, and a young boy with blood around his mouth. After a while though, the sky in the vision turned blood red.
However, as Walker tried to stop Wolfe from entering and eating another power, Wolfe threw him aside as he realized that Walker was one of those who wanted to hurt him.
