Meanwhile, Detective Christian Walker’s (Sharlto Copley) search for Calista Secor (Olesya Rulin), led him to investigate Johnny Royale’s (Noah Taylor) club. Inside, Calista was given a choice as to whom she could go with- Retro Girl (Michele Forbes), her idol; Johnny Royale, who promised her a home; or Walker, the former superhero named Diamond. Read on to learn more about this episode.
At the Federal Powers Containment Facility, or “The Shaft”, the superhero Triphammer (Andrew Sensenig) worked with Captain Cross (Adam Godley) of the Powers Division in order to create a contraption, called the drainer, which would be able to render a power powerless if they got to dangerous. The first few tests were unsuccessful, but after a while, they were able to finally get it right.
It was also revealed that Triphammer himself oversaw Wolfe’s (Eddie Izzard) lobotomy, but discovered that he was slowly becoming himself again, which included his ability to consume powers, and that they could only hope to “retire” the powers that he had already consumed.
Meanwhile, Detective Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley), the former superhero named Diamond, and his partner, Detective Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward) investigated the death of a teenaged boy who could levitate, whom a power named Zora (Logan Browning) knew of. It turned out that the boy could only hover above the ground, and took a drug called “Sway”, a power booster, that was being given out at Johnny Royale’s (Noah Taylor) club. Later, they were told that if “wannabe” powers took it, it might kill them.
At one of Royale’s “safe places”, Royale couldn’t believe that Calista Secor (Olesya Rulin) still considered Retro Girl (Michele Forbes) as her idol as she had been more than willing to give her up to Walker and Deena. He then told her that the police were still looking for her, but that she was free to come and go as she pleased. He also told her that he had discovered his own power, years ago, after wishing for a very long time that he could leave his life behind. Before she left, he warned her that her idea of Retro Girl was a lie, and that she would only get hurt because of it.
Meanwhile, Krispin Stockley (Max Fowler) got closer to Chaotic Chick (Shelby Steel), who sympathized with him as she had also lost a close relative because of a power, and the two decided to make a statement against the powers community.
Because of this, she decided to confront Retro Girl, who, partly so that she could understand what Royale was up to, decided to take her in, and decided to bring her that night to Royale’s club to show her what real power really was. This greatly surprised Walker, who was staking out the club with Deena so that they could bring Royale in on charges of distributing an unregistered and unregulated powers enhancer. The two then got in by breaking in through the side door.
Inside, Krispin, as his statement, spray painted graffiti art of Chaotic Chick’s name all over the bathroom mirror, and was kissed by Calista, who did that so that Deena, who was looking for her, wouldn’t see her. She was then confronted by Royale, who called her “Annabel”, and told her to go to their “safe place”. She was then found by both Deena and Christian, who proceeded to take her into their custody.
While this happened, Retro Girl told Royale that she didn’t need any powers to destroy him, and proceeded to leave.
At the entrance, Walker, Royale and Retro Girl let Calista choose with whom she was going to go with. As Royale urged her to come home with him, she chose Royale, much to Walker’s disappointment.
They then teleported to a closet, where Royale revealed to Calista that he had discovered his powers one night, while he and his younger sister, Annabel (Hannah Alligood), who was constantly being beat up by their father, were hiding in a closet. He tried to bring her to a remote island so that no one would hurt her, but only he had teleported out of the closet. When he finally understood how to use his powers, after many years, it had been too late for her. He then told Simons (Aaron Farb) to pick Calista up from where he had left her outside the club, as he had to attend to something. However, Calista decided to help show Krispin a way out of the area.
Royale then teleported into Wolfe’s cell where he discovered that Wolfe had started consuming and eating his doctors and nurses. Wolfe, who had noticed that Royale had arrived, then asked him if he could finally “go home”.
