For months, fans of the superhero CW shows “Arrow” and “The Flash” have been eagerly waiting for the upcoming CW show, “Legends of Tomorrow,” which will be combining characters from both shows in a team of time travelling heroes. As of late, both CW shows have been building up the fans and the viewers’ excitement, as most of their recent episodes have been more focused on the characters in “Legends of Tomorrow,” in order to set up the show. This, of course, means that the show will be arriving pretty soon, and according to the CW, fans should expect it to drop sometime in January, as they have just released the premiere date, and a brand new teaser trailer for the show. WARNING: This article will contain spoilers for the CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow.” Read on to learn more about what to expect in the upcoming series.

According to TV Line and Entertainment Weekly, CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow” will finally be hitting the small screen on January 21, 2016, Thursday, at 8:00 PM. This is welcome news to fans of “Arrow” and “The Flash,” and to those who are eagerly awaiting the show, as the CW has been building up the anticipation and excitement for it since earlier this year.

The series centers around a team of superheroes and anti-heroes that have all been featured in “Arrow” and “The Flash,” led by the time travelling Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), who are tasked to help prevent the future world’s biggest villain, Vandal Savage (Casper Crump become who he has become in Rip Hunter’s day, in the future).

Vandal Savage and the team’s dynamics were also showcased recently, in a new teaser that was shared by TV Line and Entertainment Weekly.

The trailer began by showing the time where Rip Hunter came from, London, in 2166, which is a war zone thanks to Vandal Savage, an immortal dictator who managed to single handedly control the entire world.

Hunter then goes on to explain that in order to stop Savage from becoming the dictator he is in his time, he and a special team of superheroes and anti-heroes will have to travel through time, in a time ship called the Waverider, in order to thwart Savage in those particular moments in time.

The team, who, Hunter says will one day become legends, are comprised of The Atom or Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh); the White Canary or Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Captain Cold or Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) and Mick Rory or Heatwave (Dominic Purcell); Firestorm, who is comprised of Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (Franz Drameh) and Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber); and Hawkman or Carter Hall (Falk Hentschel) and Hawkgirl or Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renee).

It was also shown how Ray practiced on how to fight while shrinking and growing in size with the Green Arrow or Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), and how the Black Canary or Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) urged her younger sister to finally fight in the light and not in the shadows of the night.

It also showcased the rocky relationship between Hawkman and Hawkgirl, who are seen going at each other while inside a room.

However, time travel is never as simple as it is, and sometimes, the ramifications of upsetting the time stream continuum can prove disastrous, as seen in the fact that Professor Stein’s wedding ring, at one point, vanished from his finger; and as it showed Captain Cold confronting a younger version of himself, while the White Canary, in a voice over, mentioned that they had the power to change their own individual fates.

Also, the trailer also referred to other iconic DC characters, as it referenced Batman by talking about a “Dark Knight”; and Superman, by talking about a “Man of Steel.”
