Today, Prince Harry was knighted as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. It took place at Buckingham Palace in a private ceremony. However, officials don’t want to release any images from the event.
The 30-year old royal is set to leave the army this month and this is the first time that he was given this honor by Queen Elizabeth. Prince Edward and Prince Andrew, his uncles, were also given the same honor while his brother, Prince William is a knight of both The Order of the Thistle and the Order of the Garter.
His father, Prince Charles is the knight of Order of the Garter and Order of Thistle and Bath.
This particular award is given by the queen to those who has served the Monarchy in a personal way and usually members of the household are rewarded for their work this way. Prince Harry was given the second highest rank and with that, he is entitled to use KCVO after his name.
In a statement released by the Buckingham Palace last night, “The Queen has been pleased to make the following appointment to the Royal Victorian Order: To be a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO), HRH Prince Henry of Wales.”
Kensington Palace also took to its official Twitter account to post Prince Harry’s award.
