Nostalgia, it seems, lately, has been a big factor when it comes to pitching a new television show, whether it be a sequel, reboot, revival or remake. The craze for this seemingly has gone higher than ever, as it was just recently announced that everyone’s favorite one man army, Sylvester Stallone’s John Rambo, will be getting a television show of his own pretty soon. Read on to learn more about the proposed Rambo television show.
John Rambo, everyone’s favorite one man army and former soldier, is one of America’s most iconic characters in history, to the point that many, even if they have not seen any of the movies, knows who Rambo is, and his portrayer, Sylvester Stallone.
Aside from the Rambo film franchise, Stallone is also known for portraying Rocky Balboa in the “Rocky” franchise, a role that he reprised recently in the film “Creed.”
However, fans of Rambo and of Stallone will be getting an interesting treat as Deadline has recently reported that FOX has recently closed a deal to develop a television series entitled “Rambo: New Blood,” with Stallone executive producing it.
According to the report, the series will center around the relationship between Rambo and his ex-Navy SEAL son, J.R., while staying true to the spirit of the original Rambo films.
This isn’t the first time that a Rambo television show has been shopped to the networks, as a Rambo series had been pitched in 2013.
So far, it isn’t certain if Stallone himself will reprise his role as the iconic Rambo, but a recent report on the A.V. Club has stated that Stallone, during a press conference for “Creed”, mentioned, when asked as to who he thought would be able to take on the role of Rambo for a reboot if that time came, he mentioned he would cast actor Ryan Gosling as Rambo.
Gosling, on his part, according to Cinema Blend, first didn’t believe the report, but later on, stated that he felt honored that Stallone knew who he was, as Stallone was one of his favorite actors.
