Rapper DMX had been arrested for multiple charges including one for failure to pay child support just as he was getting ready to perform at Radio City Music Hall in New York. His appearance had to be cancelled because he was arrested. Fans reported that DMX was missing in the concert, which also featured appearances by Mase, Rakim, Shabba Ranks, Pete Rock, the Lox and others.
A spokesman for the New York City Sheriff’s Department said that the 44-year-old rapper was taken into custody on Friday for several “issues outstanding.” He said that the charges included non-payment of child support worth $400,000, a warrant issued for bail jumping in the city of White Plains, and a warrant for robbery complaint out of Newark, New Jersey. No charges have been filed in the Newark Jersey case. The Fox News reported on the issues on Friday. The Rolling Stone magazine has since reported that the rapper has been released on bail.
The “Who We Be” rapper’s real name is Earl Simmons. He has been rapping since 1999 when he had a big hit when the song “Party Up” was released.
