“Ray Donovan” Season 2 Premiere Episode 1 “Yo Soy Capitan” aired on July 13, 2014. It was directed by Tucker Gates and written by Ann Biderman. “Ray Donovan” Season 2 picked up with the events that had happened in the Season 1 finale. In Season 1 Episode 12 “Same Exactly” (air date: September 22, 2013), Ray (Liev Schreiber) finally tracked Sullivan (James Woods) and Tiny (Craig Ricci Shaynak). It was Mickey (Jon Voight) who shot Sully down for Ray to have time to get the moey and gun from Tiny.
In “Yo Soy Capitan,” the story continued with the aftermath of Ray’s secrets being revealed. Mickey was previously told by a young Ray that he was molested by the priest, but Mickey called him a liar and beat him senselessly. It took several years before the priest’s attention went to Ray’s little brother, Bunchy (Dash Mihok), to molest him.
Ray stuggled to maintain his relationships with his family. His wife, Amy (Paula Malcomson), was told by their therapist (Brent Spiner) that Ray has become hypersexual due to the molestations. On the other hand, Ray went to the FBI in order to confront Assistant Director Cochran (Hank Azaria) because Frank (Michael McGrady) could not cover the ballistics report. Ray finally told him the truth about his plan to let Sully kill his father, but it ended with Mickey’s bullet into Sully’s head.
Later, Ray took the case of an affair between pro athlete Deonte (Mo McRae) and his mistress, who was an American Idol finalist. Ray was already too late when Deonte’s wife shot the mistress in her arm. Ray tapped Lena (Katherine Moennig) to help him concoct a mugging story. Their solution was successful as the woman delivers an emotional rendition of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.”
At school, Conor (Devon Bagby) got in a fight with a classmate who accused him for lying about Marvin Gaye Washington (Octavius J. Johnson). Conor immediately got mad and pushed the boy down the stairs. Ray went and planned to talk to the parents of the boy who suffered from a broken collarbone. Meanwhile, Cochran used Bridgette’s (Kerris Dorsey) marijuana possession case to let Ray find his father.
On the other hand, Mickey was with Daryll/Black Mickey (Pooch Hall) in Mexico. They joined a boxing match where Daryll joined as a contestant. Unfortunately, Daryll was no match from his opponent. He got mad after learning that Mickey didn’t bet nor trusted him that he could win. Daryll told Ray about their location, while Ray called Cochran that he knew where to find Mickey.
