The Golden Raspberry Awards Foundation nominates the top worst films every year, and for their 35th Annual Razzie Awards, the nominees are announced. The annual Razzies is a way to ridicule and celebrate the perceived “worst” movies of the year. The Razzie is an award that nobody wants to receive, but sadly, a number of Hollywood A-listers have been given the nods. Read on for further details.
Leading the nominations is the highest-grossing movie of 2014, “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” The film was directed by Michael Bay and stars Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci. The film is up for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay and Worst Director, as well as Worst Sequel, Worst Screen Combo and Worst Supporting Actress and Actor for stars Nicola Peltz and Kelsey Grammer.
Cameron Diaz is nominated for Worst Actress for “The Other Woman” and “Sex Tape,” Worst Supporting Actress for “Annie,” and Worst Screen Combo along with Jason Segel. Seth MacFarlane was the most criticized male, as he is up for Worst Actor, Worst Director and Worst Screen Combo along with Charlize Theron for “A Million Ways to Die in the West.”
The ceremony will take place an evening before the Oscars on Feb. 21, 2015. The Golden Raspberry Awards now have a new category of the Razzie Redeemer Award. Ben Affleck for “Argo” and “Gone Girl,” Jennifer Aniston for “Cake,” Mike Myers for “Supermensch,” Keanu Reeves for “John Wick” and Kristen Stewart for “Camp X-Ray” have been nominated for this category. All of them received critical acclaim this year for their work on screen.
