Fans of the lead and witty Avenger will be pleased to know that Robert Downey Jr. (RDJ) will be more than willing to consider taking part in a fourth “Iron Man” film if Mel Gibson becomes the helmsman of the project. Read on to know more about the details of this scoop.
The actor with the movie that started it all, Robert Downey Jr. (RDJ) has been going back and forth with his statements about the creation of another “Iron Man” stand-alone film. It all started off with him saying that “there isn’t one in the pipe” and later on sharing that it is all up to Disney and Marvel should they bring him in and create another movie. Now in his latest comments, he shares about openly considering the comeback if his buddy, and Hollywood’s most sensational actor/director Mel Gibson directs the next installment.
RDJ is busy promoting his recent nonsuperhero movie entitled “The Judge” and questions about his Iron Man acting streak just cannot be forgone. We all know he will be appearing in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and in the third one that’s coming, but many are still asking if there would still be an “Iron Man 4.” He now then responds and talks about giving back what he has received.
According to Screen Rant’s feature, “Iron Man 3” helmsman Shane Black firmly believes that RDJ will keep on playing the role, but it’s all a matter of the star getting what he wants. We didn’t really assume RDJ to be the demanding type, and he’s mostly not. However, he is definitely pulling hints for Hollywood to give Gibson another shot. If you’re wondering about where RDJ is getting such sentiments from, Gibson was basically the person who helped put the present highest paid actor on the right path during his difficult times.
“Unless you are without sin – and if you are, you are in the wrong fucking industry, you should forgive him and let him work… This is my fuckin’ time. Mel and I have the same lawyer, same publicist and same shrink. I couldn’t get hired and he cast me. He said if I accepted responsibility – he called it hugging the cactus – long enough, my life would take meaning. And if he helped me, I would help the next guy. But it was not reasonable to assume the next guy would be him,” explained RDJ on Screen Rant.
The “Iron Man” actor then supplements his statements to Deadline when he was asked about the creation of “Iron Man 4” with Mel Gibson’s involvement. To which, he answers optimistically, “Why not? That movie would be bananas.”
Marvel Studios could possibly be cooking up another “Iron Man” stand alone film, but there are definitely no updates coming from them just yet. While waiting, have your sights plastered on the release of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which opens next year on May 1, 2015.
