Ever since MARVEL Studio’s “Captain Marvel” was announced to come as part of the MARVEL Cinematic Universe’s line up for Phase Three, it has led the fans and audiences to wonder who would play the first MARVEL superheroine to have her own solo film, and many have speculated as to when Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, will first appear. Since then, different names have come up as possible potentials to play the captain, as MARVEL hasn’t casted her yet. Recently, another name has appeared on the radar as a potential to portray the Avenger and one time member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, actress Rebecca Ferguson. Read on to learn more about this story.
According to Heroic Hollywood, although unconfirmed, it seems that MARVEL Studios may just be looking at actress Rebecca Ferguson to portray Carol Danvers, or Captain Marvel, the first superheroine in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe to have a solo film.
Ferguson has caught the eye of many in Hollywood, especially after her spectacular performance as the MI6 agent Ilsa Faust, alongside Tom Curise’s Ethan Hunt in the latest installment of “Mission Impossible,” entitled “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.”
Screen Rant goes on to surmise that Heroic Hollywood could be referring to the fact that MARVEL does keep potential. Besides, it is also important to note that Ferguson had been offered a role to star alongside Channing Tatum in his upcoming movie “Gambit,” which focuses on the titular mutant, and another film alongside Emily Blunt.
However, if Ferguson will become Captain Marvel, this move would be a wise one, as it keeps her schedule clear for the MARVEL Cinematic Universe.
Even though there is no hurry to cast Carol Danvers yet, with most of the franchise’s future heavy hitters, such as Doctor Stephen Strange and T’Challa or The Black Panther already cast, fans wonder when Carol Danvers will be cast, as they cannot wait to see her appear as early as “Captain America: Civil War.” However, it seems more plausible that they would make her first appear during the events of “Avengers: Infinity War part I,” which will premiere before “Captain Marvel.”
Aside from Ferguson, other actresses who have been speculated to have potential to portray Carol are Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt. Actresses Jessica Chastain and wrestling darling Ronda Rousey have also expressed their interest in portraying the character, while pop star Beyonce was rumored to be interested in playing Carol or any other female character in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe.
