“Reckless” Season 1 Episode 2 “Parting Shots” was directed by John Gray and written by Dana Stevens. Before they took on the city’s most scandalous case, Roy (Cam Gigandet) and Jamie Sawyer (Anna Wood) battled over the custody of the Benjamins’ case between Cathy and Cole.
They found out that Cole just changed his work in order to spend time with his son. Cole also noted that Cathy had been drinking and doing drugs in her past time. Cathy, on the other hand, defended herself that she had been cleaning up her acts for several months for Marshall’s sake. Cathy told the court about Cole’s alleged affair with Erica, his secretary. Cole countered her accusations. He said that didn’t have an affair with Erica during the time that he and Cathy had been together.
One day, Cathy arrived at her home, but she was immediately threatened by an assailant. The investigation first pointed out to Cole, who said that he wouldn’t hurt Cathy or his son. With Terry’s (Shawn Hatosy) help, they found out a footage of Van Larson. The man who attacked Cathy was hired by an anonymous caller who used an electronic voice changer. While they continued looking for the suspect, the judge had agreed that Cole visits Marshall.
Jamie felt that the case might be turned against Lee Anne (Georgina Haig). She let Lee Anne see the footage because the clip showed that she might not be drugged during that time. On the other hand, Lee Anne found a new job as a waitress. She told Arliss that she was fired, and her intimate photos were spread in the station. Unfortunately, Arliss didn’t believe that she was forced to have sex with her fellow officers.
On the other hand, Roy informed Chief Knox (Michael Gladis) about the mysterious footage that he received. It seemed that Knox knew something about the scandal when he asked the IT guy to find out who sent it out to the lawyer. Roy also told Preston (Adam Rodríguez) that he must rethink about his reasons if he wanted to stay with Jamie.
The episode ended with the talk with Knox and Preston. It was revealed that Preston was in an undercover case when the scandal had happened. Moreover, Preston already edited the footage, but somehow, the unedited clip was given to Roy. Preston assured Knox that he would do everything to gain their trust again.
