After two years, ABC Family has finally ordered a TV series for “Recovery Road.” The network is known for their outstanding original TV series, and another one is coming our way. Read on for more details.
“Recovery Road” is based on a young adult novel published in 2011 by Blake Nelson. It is about a high school student, Maddie, a party girl who is dealing with an addiction problem. Things got out of control that she is given two choices: get expelled or go to rehab. She chooses the latter. The story will revolve around the life of a recovering teenager in rehab, where we will be able to see the negative effects of drugs and how a teenager deals with it.
“ABC Family is best known for its ground breaking original series and ‘Recovery Road’ is right in our wheel-house. This series will explore relevant social issues for our audience and shine light on addiction,” said Karey Burke, executive VP of Prgramming Development.
Executive producers are Bert V. Royal and Karen DiConcentto. They will be joined by Craig Pilligian, Danielle VonZerneck and Beth Miller.
So far, no casting news has been revealed. Production on the series will probably begin in 2015.
