Rectify Season 2 Episode 1 Running with the Bull Spoilers [WATCH VIDEO]

“Rectify” Season 2 Episode 1 “Running with the Bull” airs on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on Sundance TV. The cast members include Aden Young (“I, Frankenstein”), Abigail Spencer (“Cowboys and Aliens, “Mad Men”), J. Smith-Cameron (“True Blood”), Adelaide Clemens (” Love My Way”), Clayne Crawford (“Graceland”) and Luke Kirby (“Elementary,” “Blue Bloods”). The legal series drama was created by screenwriter/actor/director Ray McKinnon, who as recently seen in FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” as Lincoln Potter. It was also Sundance TV’s first-ever original scripted series on their official programming.

“Rectify” first aired on August 2013 with a limited run of only six episodes, but the series was well received by critics. According to Zap2it, the critically acclaimed freshman run was greenlighted for Season 2 after just one week of airing. The season renewal was announced by Sundance Channel President/General Manager Sarah Barnett. It was slated to return with ten episodes rather than the usual six episodes from Season 1.

“The response to ‘Rectify’ has been incredible. We feel as though this story has tapped into something truly unique, with both critics and audiences using their platforms to share such strong, personal reactions to this very distinctive TV series,” said Barnett in the Zap2it article.

“Rectify” follows the story of a death row inmate named Daniel Holden (Aden Young), who was released from prison after 19 years. As a teenager, he was previously accused of raping and murdering Hanna Dean, his high school sweetheart. His conviction was then vacated after new discoveries in the DNA had proven his innocence.

With the help of his sister, Amantha (Abigail Spencer), he will try to adapt the changes in the world outside the four corners of his prison cell. Moreover, he returns to the home where he grew up with his mother in Paulie, Georgia. He joins his sister, his mother, Janet (J. Smith-Cameron), and her extended family after marrying his stepfather, Ted Talbot Sr., (Bruce McKinnon). They are joined by his step-brother, Ted Jr. (Clayne Crawford), Ted’s wife, Tawney, (Adelaide Clemens) and Jared (Jake Austin Walker).

SPOILER ALERT: “Rectify” Season 2 Premiere Episode 1 is directed by Stephen Gyllenhall and written by Chad Feehan, Coleman Herbert and Scott Teems. It will air on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on Sundance TV.

Season 3 will pick up after “Rectify” Season 1 Finale Episode 6 “Jacob’s Ladder,” which aired on May 20, 2013. Previously, he and his sister’s safety started to get compromised since a week of his release. Jon Stern (Luke Kirby), Amantha’s boyfriend and Daniel’s new lawyer, advised her to get her own gun. They even thought of leaving their small hometown for a new life in Atlanta.

According to Sundance TV, the “Running with the Bull” episode will follow the aftermath of Daniel’s mysterious beating by Hanna’s brother and his friends when he visited her grave. The Season 1 finale ended with critically wounded Daniel being wheeled inside an ambulance.

Upon learning this, his family members will start to fear that justice won’t be served correctly for Daniel. The case would be investigated by Sheriff Daggett (J.D. Evermore). It was also said that Judy Dean would be affected by Bobby’s account. Is it about the beating he did to Daniel? Can Daniel be saved from being beaten again? Would justice be served correctly this time?

Ted Jr. hides a shameful secret from his wife, Tawney. What could it be about? Daniel previously got him in chokehold before freeing him. Is it about Hanna’s death? Does Ted know something about it? If not, why would he hide something from his wife?
