The brand-new young adult, coming-of-age drama, “Red Band Society,” set in a hospital has added two new cast members to its roster. Read on to learn more about this scoop.
According to TV Line, singer and actress Mandy Moore has just landed an acting gig in the recurring role of Dr. Erin Grace, the Chief of Staff at Ocean Park Hospital, where the drama is set. Dr. Grace just also happens to be the ex-fiance of the doctor of the kids in “Read Band Society,” Dr. McAndrew (Dave Annable).
Moore, who was more popularly known as a pop singer during her teenage years, has had several appearances on television and films. On the big screen, she is best known for her cameo appearance as mean girl Lana in Disney’s “The Princess Diaries” (2001); as sickly Jamie Sullivan in Nicholas Sparks’ “A Walk to Remember” (2002), alongside Shane West; as high schooler Hilary Faye in “Saved!” (2004); and as the voice of Rapunzel in Disney’s “Tangled” (2010). On television, her credits include appearances in “Entourage” (2005), “Grey’s Anatomy” (2010), and “TRON: Uprising” (2012 to 2013).
However, Moore’s Dr. Erin Grace is not the only new recurring character in the series, as Deadline reports that actress Andrea Parker will be also joining the cast as Sara Sounders, the mother of Kara Sounders (Zoe Levin) — one of the teenagers who has to stay in the hospital for a certain period. Her character is described as driven and fashionable and one utilizes her connections in order to get what she wants, such as moving up her daughter’s name in the heart transplant list. She is also a lesbian and is the dominant one in the relationship.
Parker’s acting credits include “E.R” (1994 to 1995), “The Pretender” (1996 to 2000), “JAG” (1995 to 2001), “Less than Perfect” (2002 to 2006), “Desperate Housewives” (2011 to 2012), and “Pretty Little Liars” (2011 to 2014).
