The upcoming TV season is always a busy time, but for actress Regina King (“Southland”), she will be busier than most of her peers. King has just landed a role on ABC’s new drama series, “American Crime,” while also guest starring on NBC’s “The Big Bang Theory” and directing an episode of “Scandal,” also on ABC. Read on to learn more about Regina King’s latest projects.

Set for a seven-episode appearance on “American Crime,” King will play the sister of one of the accused in the drama series. Her character is described as religious, and her participation will present a major arc to the story.

Created by John Ridley and produced with Michael McDonald, “American Crime” is a story about a couple living in Modesto, California who are brutally attacked in their own home. The husband, Matt Skokie, a decorated war veteran, is instantly killed in the crime, while his wife, Lily, remains unconscious. The police arrest four suspects whose trial will unfold in the gritty drama series. The show will be lead by Timothy Hutton (“Leverage”), Felicity Huffman (“Desperate Housewives”), Penelope Ann Miller (“Mistresses”), W. Earl Brown (“Deadwood”), Benito Martinez (“The Shield”), Elvis Nolasco (“Oldboy”), Johnny Ortiz (“Ali”), Richard Cabral (“End of Watch”) and Caitlin Gerard (“The Social Network”).

“American Crime” is expected to debut on ABC in its midseason slate. According to The Hollywood Reporter, King will have the option to return for two more episodes that will be filming in November.

Meanwhile, as King is filming her episodes on “American Crime,” she will be taking a day to film at the NBC lot for her guest appearance on “The Big Bang Theory.” The actress appeared on the show in 2013 as Janine Davis, the HR director of the university where the lead characters work. King is reprising the role for the upcoming season.

Next stop for King is a directorial job on ABC’s “Scandal.” The actress has been booked to direct the 16th episode of the show’s fourth season, according to reports. She will not be appearing on camera for that series for now.

Currently, King can be seen on the summer thriller “The Strain” on FX.

So that’s it for the details on Regina King’s latest TV projects for “American Crime,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Scandal.”  You can check out the teaser to “American Crime” in the video below.
