Previously on “Reign” (“Long Live the King” Season 1 Episode 21), Francis Bash (Torrance Coombs) was hunting in the woods to uncover the secrets of the Darkness when he met a boy named Pascal. Kenna (Caitlin Stasey) helped him in getting the boy to reveal about what he knows about the mystery in the woods. Pascal told them about a place where the man with sharp teeth took him. It was a place where darkness dwells. Bash, along with Nostradamus (Rossif Sutherland), traveled to go there. Then, we soon learned that Bash had killed Pascal’s father. Could putting Bash in danger be the boy’s form of revenge?
Francis (Toby Regbo) returned and was welcomed with open arms by Mary (Adelaide Kane). The queen of England was dead. Francis asked his wife and Catherine (Megan Follows) to postpone their plan of getting rid of King Henry (Alan Van Sprang). Francis would like to give it one last try with his mentally sick father through a hunting trip.
During the trip, King Henry told Francis about his father who was captured in Spain. He and his brother visited their father in prison. What they did not know was that their father had entered into an agreement. In exchange for his freedom, his sons were to endure three years of torture. However, Francis managed to convince his father to postpone his invasion madness.
The plan to poison King Henry during the communion was postponed. However, he was attacked. He killed the attacker. It was the Duke of Guise’s doing. Want proof that he had completely lost his mind? He was talking to a ghost, telling it about his plan to conquer England. How would he do that? Simple. He would kill Francis and marry Mary.
As for Lola (Anna Popplewell) and Lord Julien (Giacomo Gianniotti), there were lots of lies surrounding this couple. Lord Julien’s uncle arrived to pay him a visit. He called Lord Julien “Remy.” Remy was the real Lord Julien’s secretary before he died. Remy was mistaken as Lord Julien. The uncle refused to leave.
Then, he saw the ring that his real nephew once owned in Lord Julien a.k.a Remy’s possession. He attacked him, but Lola pushed him, causing him to get stabbed by a decoration. What was their plan now? Lola could only think of faking Lord Julien’s death and her running to the French court as a widow.
