“Resident Evil” is set to have an animated film version that is set to be released in 2017. Read On!

According to The Indian Express, the Japanese studio Marza Animation Planet Inc. of Sega Sammy Group announced last Thursday, October 15, that their newest project would be the animated film of sci-fi, action movie franchise of “Resident Evil.”

The said animated film is currently in the works and is set to have a 2017 release after the live-action version “Resident Evil: Final Chapter” is released.

Polygon reported that Capcom is working with the Marza Animation Planet to bring the Rebecca Chambers, Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield to life.

Adding on, the production that will handle the future computer-generated movie is credited to have successfully released multiple popular anime and features such as “Death Note,” “Ju-On” (The Grudge) and “Ghost in the Shell.”

Other than that, the story of the animated version was assigned to Makoto Fukami under the direction of Takanori Tsujimoto while Takashi Shimizu will be its executive producer along with Hiroyuki Kobayashi as the movie’s executive supervisor.

If the film creators decide to push the “Resident Evil CG3” animated film, it will be the third feature-length CGI movie in the series. The first two films namely “Resident Evil: Degeneration” (2008) and “Resident Evil: Damnation” (2012) were produced by a Japanese animation house named Digital Frontier.

As of writing, further details about the animated film is yet to be announced, however, it was announced that both international and domestic distribution for the movie is already confirmed.

Moving on, the live-action film version of “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” started filming last August and is also set to have a 2017 release. The series will be the final installment of the sci-fi film.

Milla Jovovich who played as Alice, the antagonist in the film reprised her role as well as its director, Paul W.S. Anderson.

The exact release for the film has been scheduled on January 27, 2017.
