Voice actor Justin Roiland and producer Dan Harmon revealed tidbits of what’s coming in “Rick and Morty” Season 2 during an interview recently. Will they replace Mr. Meeseeks? Read on for more details.
Admitting that he did not expect fans to love Mr. Meeseeks in the course of Season 1, Justin Roiland, 35, was uncertain how it’s going to affect “Rick and Morty” Season 2.
“We didn’t think to do a story or do anything too much with him in season two aside from a couple of little subtle, inconsequential cameos,” Roiland told The Hollywood Reporter.
It seemed that a replacement for Mr. Meeseeks was also in the works while the character makes some cameos. Zap2it managed to spot the character in the background, helping an alien, during “Rick and Morty” Season 2 Episode 2 “Mortynight Run.”
“…you’ll get to meet a lot of zany new characters that hopefully will join the ranks of the beloved characters from season one,” Roiland said.
“Rick and Morty” Season 2 Plot
Roiland also teased a certain episode in “Rick and Morty” Season 2 as one of his favorites. He said the episode would show Rick learning a lesson, which Roiland expects to delight the fans.
There would also be a father-daughter storyline between Summer Smith (voiced by Spencer Grammer) and Jerry Smith (voiced by Chris Parnell) that Roiland also expects to be touching. Hopefully, he would get what he anticipates this time.
Dan Harmon, 42, said “Rick and Morty” Season 2 would also be chaotic as Rick and grandson Morty would be traveling to various planets. Fans could expect a bigger universe and “more dimensionalized” characters.
The creators admitted difficulty in determining the things that people love. They ended up receiving the opposite of what they were anticipating.
Nevertheless, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland learned a lesson. This time, the two are making sure they would be aware.
