Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan have announced the birth of their baby girl. The actor shared the good news on Facebook.
“After 9 months of intensive development, Team Downey is pleased to announce our 2014 fall/winter project," he posted. "Principal photography commenced 11-14 and will continue until she says, 'Dad! You are embarrassing me… I'm 30, this has gotta stop.”
The baby weighed 7 lbs and measured 20 inches long upon delivery. Downey Jr. and Susan have named her Avri Roel. She will be joining her older brother, Exton Elias, 2. The actor also has an older son from a previous marriage: Indio, 21.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight prior to the birth of his daughter, the actor said, “I want to be a fair but firm dad. I want her to fear and respect me.”
The actor co-owns a production company with his wife called Team Downey. The couple's first film project was “The Judge,” which was released in theaters in October of this year. The film was produced on a $50 million budget and went on to garner $40.1 million in ticket sales.
The couple met on the set of “Gothika” in 2003. They wed on Aug. 27, 2005.
Susan was an executive for Dark Castle Entertainment and Silver Pictures before she resign and jumpstarted Team Downey.
Downey Jr. is reported to have earned $75 million for reprising his superhero role in “Iron Man 3.” The film franchise staged his comeback and propelled him to fame after compromising his career with substance abuse and jail time for driving under the influence.
The actor has been sober since his return to acting. He has been a box office draw since appearing in the “Iron Man” films. His net worth has climbed an estimated $140 million, and he is perceived as one of the most influential actors in Hollywood.
