Robert Pattinson had his break at a young age. His career suddenly became the reason why he stopped growing up, and it shocked him for years. In his recent interview with a German magazine, Teleschau (via Gossip Cop), the 29-year-old “Twilight” actor opened up about his experience as an actor who dealt with a sudden fame, and gave a simple advice to our young artists.
According to Pattinson, breakthrough career is incredible, but at the same time, expect it to be a little psychologically demanding, and it will take time for an actor to cope up with it. So, he’s only advice to the new and young batch of actors is: “Take good care of your mental health. If you get famous as quickly as I did, your personal growth stops suddenly.”
He also admitted that it has been years before his personal and professional growth started to come out slowly.
“I stopped growing at 22 back then and I was in shock for four years,” he said. “It’s different now. My personal and professional development path is slowly emerging. That makes me happy.”
On the other hand, Pattinson also opened up about the complications he had to deal with when it comes to the continuous rise of different gadgets and internet.
To Pattinson, his life under the lenses has been made more difficult by cellphones and internet. “Nobody asks you anymore, people just pull out their phones.”
He went on by saying that it was very different way back then—people loved looking at nice photos in magazines, unlike today, a beautiful photo of a celebrity doesn’t attract people anymore, one should at least look like a mess to get noticed.
Moving on, the “Twilight” star also shared his thoughts about privacy, and based on what he experienced, the actor admitted that it was terrible since he rose to fame and at the same time when people started using social media and smartphones.
“As a result, the freedom to protect [privacy] has become ultra-thin. Not only were all these paparazzi camping outside my house but [there was] this new horde of fans who relayed information on social media. It became unmanageable.” –Elle France.
