Even the best falls down sometimes similar to what happened to Ronda Rousey. The champion succumbed to Holly Holm in the most unexpected way for her fans. Will the next career move of the former title holder be a rematch or a retirement?
The first loss of Rousey in her entire UFC career came as a knockout in the second round of her championship match against the challenger. According to HollywoodLife, the anticipated UFC 193 took place in Melbourne, Australia last Saturday, November 14. Her undefeated record (12-0) was tainted through a left kick of Holm towards her head that dropped her on fours. Holm continued her onslaught by hammering her fist against Rousey wherein the referee intercepted as the former champion became defenseless.
She was immediately brought to the nearest hospital after the match. Her worst injury that the doctors treated is the split lip. A source revealed, however, that the pain inflicted in her pride is much worse. “Physically she is feeling pretty rough but she will be fine. The current situation she is dealing with most is that her pride has been shattered.”, the source said.
Sports experts analyzed that it was Holm’s pro-boxer experience that gave her the huge edge versus the undefeated champion in their fight. Her stance and defense was so consistent in the first round and she was able to counter almost every attack launched by Rousey. It was obvious that the first round belonged to the challenger, hence, in the second round, the champion became more aggressive with her attacks to the extent of exposing her guard. Holm saw this as an opportunity leading to the knockout.
So what will be the next for her? The source mentioned about two possible career move of Rousey.“As much as she wants a rematch, she also has told people that she might retire because the scenario of losing was never thought of at anytime and she has a lot of other things on her plate to achieve” , the source shared in a separate article of HollywoodLife.
Regardless of Ronda Rousey’s decision, her loyal supporters will be with her all throughout her career.
