It is not unknown that songwriter Rory Feek’s better half, Joey Feek, is suffering from cancer. In a heartbreaking blog titled “Braver than me,” the country music singer reveals the condition of his wife and how they are coping with the disease each and every single day.
Rory mentioned in the personal blog that his wife has grown weak and can’t get out of bed now. But he was quick to add that though his wife is nearing the end, she is still very strong-willed and wants to live for herself and her beautiful family. She especially wants to live for her daughter, whom he mentions is all excited to see her mom every morning.
Joey gave birth to their daughter Indiana last year. Though the couple’s daughter has been diagnosed with Down syndrome, they took it very positively and were happy that God had given them the privilege to take care and bring up a special kid.
Joey, 40 and is also a singer like Rory, has been suffering from stage four cervical cancer since the previous year. She had recently undergone an operation for the treatment of cancer, chemotherapy, and also radiation. However, the doctors revealed that all of the above did not work well for her. The husband and wife duo made the tough decision of stopping all medical treatment and started with receiving hospice care at their home.
In his blog, Rory mentions that there isn’t a single day when she insists that she is going to beat it and going to be fine soon. He also mentions that he has started believing it, too. Describing her as a woman who is braver than him, he says that the ride has not been very smooth for his better half. She wants everyone to remember her as “a singer of songs,” a devoted wife, a loving mother but not as a cancer patient.
Here is to believing that all will be well and Joey will be fine soon!
