Look who’s joining MARVEL’s “Daredevil” TV series! It seems that the 2015 TV adaptation of the superhero film that previously starred Ben Affleck has caught the eyes of Hollywood A-Lister Rosario Dawson. Want to learn more about it? Check out our latest scoop on the upcoming MARVEL-Netflix series “Daredevil” including Rosario Dawson’s upcoming role.
MARVEL recently announced on its official Website that Rosario Dawson will be part of the upcoming 13-episodes series from the collaboration of MARVEL and Netflix. The latest casting update on “Daredevil” was also announced by MARVEL’s head for Television, Jeph Loeb.
“Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil,” said Loeb in the MARVEL article.
Dawson previously starred in the film adaptation of the crime-noir graphic novel, Frank Miller’s “Sin City” in 2005. In the film directed by Miller and Robert Rodriguez, she took on the role of a prostitute with dominatrix traits named Gail. She will reprise her role in the upcoming “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” alongside fellow returning and new cast members. It will premiere on August 22, 2014.
Dawson’s role will be a “dedicated young woman whose quest is to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen.” It was also said that she will take on a “critical role” that is connected to Matt Murdock’s journey on becoming Daredevil.
On the other hand, her own journey will also be altered due to her connection with Murdock, who tries to save the crime-infested Hell’s Kitchen.
Moreover, Latin Times summed up the possible roles that Rosario Dawson might portray in the “Daredevil” TV Series. The choices include Elektra, Maya Lopez or Echo, Milla Donovan and Karen Page.
It was also pointed out by Latin Times and other related articles that she might play the role of “Night Nurse.” It was said that the comic book character, who’s real name is Linda Carter, had several connections in various Marvel comics including “Daredevil,” “Iron Fist” and Luke Cage.” These comic books are coincidentally part of the MARVEL-Netflix partnership that includes four superhero series and a miniseries featuring “The Defenders.”
Cox will take on the role of blind lawyer named Matt Murdock, who became accidentally blind due to a vat of radioactive substance. The accident gave him superhuman senses that he used in fighting the crimes in Hell’s Kitchen. Meanwhile, D’Onofrio will play the role of Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, Daredevil’s archnemesis. Kingpin currently heads some of the notorious crime organizations, which will be a problem for our masked hero.
MARVEL’s “Daredevil” is the first original series on Netflix. It is executive produced by showrunner Steven S. DeKnight (“Spartacus”), his fellow “Buffy” co-worker and “Sinister Six” writer Drew Goddard, MARVEL’s Jeph Loeb through Marvel Television, ABC Studios and Netflix.
