The News of the World royal family  phone hacking scandal was developed in 2005 – 2007 and exploded in 2014. The scandal included the forestalling of voice mail involving the British Royal Family by English private investigator, former non-league footballer and master hacker Glenn Mulcaire who was working for News of the World journalist Clive Goodman. It formed a lead up to the broader News International phone hacking scandal which developed in 2009 and exploded in 2011. The News of the World hacking trial has been in court for seven months already. We at MNG have compiled the highlights from months of ongoing trial with outrageous ins and outs of Rupert Murdoch’s now- inoperative News of the World.

The former News of the World royal editor Clive Goodman claimed in a Telegraph report that the late Princess Diana leaked a royal phone directory to him.

Goodman revealed in Britain’s phone hacking trial that he snooped on the voice mails of Kate Middleton (155 times), Prince William (35 times) and Prince Harry (nine times).

The royal family phone hacking trial also exposed former News of the World editors Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson’s love affair. The duo is accused of phone hacking and illegitimate payments to officials.

The testimony from the said trial also revealed that hacking targets included other celebrities too, such as Paul McCartney and Jude Law.

A July 2011 email from Brooks to his then-boss James Murdoch surfaced during the investigation. The email was reportedly sent some days before Brooks was arrested. According to the email, Blair told Brooks he was accessible to her and the Murdochs as an informal guru.

Former Daily Mirror editor and CNN host Piers Morgan also sent a message to Brooks saying: “When it rains, it f**ing pours. Grit your teeth and stay strong.”

Brooks revealed the court on Feb. 21, 2014 that excerpts from U.K. soccer star David Beckham’s ardently anticipated memoirs cost The Sun and News of the World more than $1.6 million to publish.

Brooks’ husband, Charlie also talked about the alleged attempts to hide evidence. He said that he has concealed it in adult DVDs in the bag he kept next to a garbage can in his garage.

And that’s it for Movie News Guide’s (MNG) royal family scoop. For more details about the royal family, including Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince George, Prince Harry, Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth II, as well as other entertainment news, stay tuned here on MNG.
