The “Orange is the New Black” star Ruby Rose recently revealed her earlier decision of sex transition in an exclusive interview. Read on for more details.
Rose told Access Hollywood that she was not at all comfortable to identify herself as a girl when she was a young child. At the age of five-year-old, she had set her mind for gender reassignment surgery.
“I had this jar that I would pledge dollars… towards this surgery that I didn’t really know a lot about. I think I’d seen a daytime documentary or something on Oprah and I was like, ‘That’s what I’m going to do.’ And so I started saving from probably the age of five,” Rose said.
When Rose turned 15, she started getting more into the body. She shaved her head and altered the way of walking and talking that completely confused her mom. But she was never stopped or imposed with any thought by her mom.
Rose recalled her mom’s assurance “…if you are happy, then do it,” which aided her reaching to her own self. Finally, she realized that her innermost desire was not to undergo gender transition. She just wanted to be more comfortable in her skin.
Rose also revealed that her dressing style mostly goes with Justin Bieber. On the other hand, she enjoys people comparing her with the celebs like Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio.
“American audiences were introduced to Australian actress Ruby Rose on the third season of the Netflix series ‘Orange is the New Black,’ and she’s quickly become a breakout star,” Warl.com reported.
Rose said that she was mesmerized after meeting Laura Prepon, who plays Alex. Rose is playing the character of Stella who is an inmate at the women’s prison with Taylor Schilling’s lead character, Piper. The other stars like Laverne Cox and Uzo Aduba are also present in “Orange is the New Black.”
