The longest running South-Korean variety show, Running Man Season 2 has been officially canceled. In addition, Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo, who recently quit the show, have decided to collectively donate their remaining salary from SBS in full.
Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo were alleged to be forced out of the Running Man. This was followed by a secret meeting with the current cast members of the show to discuss leaving Running Man together.
Finally, on Dec. 18, 2016, SBS Running Man members and producers had an emergency meeting and confirmed that Running Man will indeed shut down in Feb. 2017.
In addition, Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo have agreed to be on the show until the final episode. Therefore, all the six members will join the variety show before it ends on Feb. 2017.
Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo Running Man Salary Donation
The cast members of the show who left recently have decided to donate collectively their remaining salary from SBS in full. A Running Man staff revealed this detail to Korea Boo.
Moreover, the website adds, when asked about the donation, an official also revealed, “They are looking into how and where they are going to donate.”
Names of Cast Members until Finale
Last week, the SBS show Running Man cast members Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook left the show. The sudden move was alleged to be initiated by the production without prior informing the two popular cast members.
This resulted in Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook ending up emotionally hurt by the changes made. Therefore, the production of Running Man issued an immediate apology to them. And, later decided to ultimately end the program by February, reports Koreaboo.
The website adds, since they did not want to end the show on a sad note, it was decided to have all six members, Yoo Jae Suk, Ji Suk Jin, Haha, Lee Kwang Soo, Song Ji Hyo and Kim Jong Kook until the finale.
