Despite taking off the easy way and filing for a divorce from her, Russell Brand showed that he still cares for and supports his ex-wife Katy Perry, as he tweets her a message prior to her Super Bowl halftime performance.
On Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, Brand posted a tweet in support of Perry’s performance later that day during the halftime of the 2015 Super Bowl. He said, “Super Bowl may be baffling to Brits but halftime show will be amazing. Good luck KP.” Though he didn’t physically show up in the game to support Perry, unlike her on-and-off boyfriend John Mayer, he took the time to show it to her through social media.
After what may seem to be a whirlwind romance, Brand and Perry got married in October 2010. However, after only 14 months of marriage, Brand filed for a divorce. In an interview with Billboard, Perry somewhat reveals through her song “Ghost” how he told her of his plans of breaking up things with her. “You sent a text/It’s like the wind changed your mind” tells of Brand calling their marriage quits through a text message on New Year’s Eve in 2011. During these times, Perry admitted that she even contemplated committing suicide upon hearing the news.
In another interview for Marie Claire, “There were two weeks of my life after I found out the truth of my marriage where I was like, ‘OK. All right. I can’t feel this. This is too intense right now.’ I was, like, just eating Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and drinking, and that’s it,” Perry confessed.
Obviously, Brand left Perry looking worse for the wear back then. Thankfully her music put her right back up to the top. Hopefully, we’ll get to see these two having a better relationship than before and be able to move further into their respective lives.
