In Travel Channel’s exhilarating 10-part reality series, “RV Rampage,” five couples from around the world will drive RV’s on an grand 1000 mile road trip from Auckland on the North Island to Queenstown on the South Island, vying in adrenalin-charged challenges all along the way. Biking legend Henry Cole and presenter Amanda Byram will follow the sob sessions, thrill, troubles, tantrums, tricks and jitters of ten competitors who will live, travel and adventure together to wins the cash prize of £5 000. From the looks of it, “RV Rampage” gives the impression of being in an “The Amazing Race-meets-Survivor” competition.
The couples will be put to the test under extreme sports, plus mental and cultural activities all the while living in the close proximity of their camper vehicles. “RV Rampage” promises to be the journey of a lifetime which will take competitors and viewers through some of the world’s most spectacular places while facing heart -stopping challenges.
Throughout the trip, the five teams will reside and travel in the RVs (recreational vehicles) or motor homes. The five teams arrive in Auckland, where their first challenge is a Segway tour of the city’s marina to trace, categorize, and snap a list of the city’s landmarks.
Afterwards, they spend the first night near Auckland’s most beautiful beaches in their new homes. The teams took their first Rampage challenge; a challenge where the teams competed for points in a projection walk, 54 stories up at the top of the city’s world famous Sky Tower.
As reported by IOL Henry Cole and presenter Amanda Byram recently opened up about the show.
“I’ve spent most of my career presenting motorcycle shows on my own, so to co-host a reality show is like, why would I do that? But then I was told the other presenter would be Amanda Byram and my kids and I absolutely love her from Total Wipe-out. So I thought, ‘Bollocks, I’ll do it! But do I have to drive one of these RV’s?” said Cole in an interview with Debashine Thangevelo.
Apparently, Cole dislikes RVs, but he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with Byram. Meanwhile, Byram was excited about it.
“I had never been to New Zealand before and the concept of the show includes adventure, reality, travel game show – all the things I love.” said Byram in the IOL report.
While “RV Rampage” gives the impression of an “Amazing Race-meets Survivor” competition, Byram compared the show with “Big Brother” because people are stuck in a confined place with essentially, strangers, who they have to work with in order to ultimately win the cash prize at the end.
