Ryan Reynolds teases a look on an early version of his costume in the “X-Men” franchise spin-off, “Deadpool.” Reynolds has tweeted an image of a prototype of his costume for “Deadpool,” teasing he film version of the character’s costume in its earliest stages.

As Reynolds notes, there is still a year before the film goes out, so there’s plenty of time for his costume to be altered and tweaked to get it right for the big screens. “Deadpool” is the first of the three “X-Men” movies to be released in 2016, along with “X-men: Apocalypse” and the “X-Men” spinoff, Channing Tatum starrer “Gambit.”

Reynolds is a veteran on the superhero scene, headlining as the titular character in Warner Bros.’ “Green Lantern” movie, as well as Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” “Deadpool” will begin filming in Reynolds’ hometown, Vancouver, by late March. Reynolds will headline as the Merc with a Mouth in theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.

Created by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool made his first appearance in “The New Mutants #98.” The “Merc with a Mouth” is known for his crazy antics, foul-mouthed behavior and being one of a few characters who are able to break the fourth wall within the comics. Wade Wilson was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer when he volunteered for a subset of the Weapon-X program that was attempting to imbue a normal human with Wolverine’s healing factor. The procedure was a success, but Deadpool became severely mentally unbalanced as a result of the experiment.

Deadpool’s powers include enhanced regeneration/healing factor, foreign chemical/disease resistance, telepathic immunity, superhuman reflexes/agility/speed, and peak human strength. Aside from his physical advantages, Deadpool is a superb assassin and mercenary, adept in multiple forms of martial arts, and an expert swordsman and marksman. It is thought that while his psychosis and dissociative identity disorder are a handicap, they are also one of his assets as they make him an extremely unpredictable opponent.
