With all the new updates, and additions to the MARVEL Cinematic Universe, and in particular, with MARVEL’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, fans and viewers of the show are still speculating regarding the fate of Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and as to how the Cinematic Universe, or the MCU will be treating their version of the famous Agent Daisy Johnson character. As the third season will rolling in a few month’s time, some light has been finally shed regarding these issues, and as to what will be happening to Director Phil Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) team. WARNING: This article may contain spoilers regarding “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3. Read on only to learn more about Simmons’ fate, a new romance, new team dynamics, and how close Bennet’s Daisy Johnson is to her famous comic book counterpart. Read on for more details.
The end of the second season brought fans and viewers to the edges of their seats. Agent Skye (Chloe Bennet) began to realize who she was and as Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), in the last few seconds of the season, was sucked into a Kree stone that could spell the end of the entire Inhuman race.
Since then, fans of the show have been speculating as to what exactly happened to Simmons, and if she will ever appear again on the small screen. However, most have resigned themselves to just waiting for the third season in order to discover exactly what happened to her. MARVEL is known for keeping the fates of their characters a big secret, even from the actors and actresses who portray these characters.
However, fear not, as Zapt2It and TV Line have both learned, thanks to several cast interviews at the recently concluded ABC Summer Press Tour and Television Critics Association Press Tour, that Agent Simmons is very much alive.
Aside from this, the actress has also confirmed that Simmons had been transported elsewhere, and that her destination, which, according to both Henstridge and Chloe Bennet, who, so far, are the only cast members who know Simmons’ fate, came as a very big surprise.
They also hinted that the repercussions of this will be felt throughout the season, even if it will not be made apparent right away.
Fans, however, need not worry, as Henstridge has teased that her character’s fate will come to light in the first few episodes of the season.
Henstridge also teased that there will a big time jump when viewers return to the third season, and that they’ll be seeing a different dynamic to the team, especially as most of the team have already moved on from the loss of Simmons. The only team member, as to be expected, who hasn’t moved on from her loss is Agent Leo Fitz (Iain de Castecker). He will be making it his personal mission to find and get back his best friend, whom he was about to finally go out on a date on.
Speaking of romance, both Bennet and Luke Mitchell have teased that there just might be a possibility that Daisy and Lincoln would be getting together. There will also probably be some tension in that relationship as Lincoln will be trying to figure out his own loyalties in this new world he has stepped into. Daisy, who will also try to recruit Lincoln to join her “Secret Warriors”-esque team, won’t be alone on her quest. Henstridge teased that Agent Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons), the skeptic of the group, will be partnering up with her.
With regards to her character’s transformation, Bennet has teased that Daisy will be having a completely new get up that will be very reminiscent of her comic book counterpart.
Brett Dalton’s dangerous and vengeful Grant Ward will be back, teased Henstridge, and will be soon quite early on in the season. HYDRA, which has just crumbled, will not be the “big bad” of the season, as the show’s focus is slowly shifting towards the hunt for more powered beings and Inhumans.
Now that we know that Simmons is alive and that she had gone somewhere, where do you think she went, and how do you think that will affect her and the team?
