“Salem” Season 1 Episode 8 “Departures” airs on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 10 p.m. on WGN America. WARNING! “Salem” Spoilers Ahead! Read only if you want to know more about the upcoming “Salem” Season 1 Episode 8 “Departures” and a quick recap of “Salem” Season 1 Episode 7 “Our Own Private America.”

“Salem” Season 1 Episode 7 “Our Own Private America”, which was aired on June 1, 2014, is directed by David Von Ancken and written by Adam Simon & Brannon Braga.

Entertainment Weekly (EW) posted on the events that happened in the latest “Salem” episode. “Our Own Private America” began with Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) and Tituba (TamzinMerchant)’s quest on getting Rose’s Mallum.

The mysterious decorated box went into the possession of John Alden (Shane West) and Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel) after they got the package from Will Hooke before he died in “Salem” Season 1 Episode 5 “Lies” (air date: May 18, 2014). Mary started to take action by invading John’s dream to get the information on the witch relic’s location.

Because of her unresolved feelings, she got trapped in his dreams as she continued to have sex with him in his dreams. She immediately got out with the help of Tituba, but there were after-effects that got into John. He left his house in his “lustful” state and kissed Anne Hale. Fortunately, he got his wits backs and said sorry to Anne.

On the other hand, Cotton’s father was on his way to get back to Salem, but Increase Mather (Stephen Lang from “Avatar”) got his own witch problem. Increase realized that a witch lurks inside the ship and stops him from getting back to his hometown. It was revealed that he is still a skilled witch hunter after killing the captain, who was actually a witch.

Meanwhile, Mercy (Elise Eble) has used her newly-found witch powers to trick one of her friends. Dolly, who was supposed to be a part of a bundling session, was tricked to drink a spell-laced potion. She hysterically went away after hallucinating that Joe Barker got a lot of oozing boils on his face.

According to the official episode synopsis posted on TV Guide, “Salem” Season 1 Episode 8 “Departures,” will feature Increase Mather’s arrival at the small town of Salem. He is considered as a powerful witch hunter that may endanger Mary Sibley and the other witches in her coven.

Previously, Mercy’s little nasty deed got the Barkers burned to their deaths. Father Mather who was planning on staying at Salem until all the witches are killed, reaped all the glory. There’s a chance that Cotton might have a problem with the return of his own father. Will their estranged relationship start a problem in the town’s hunt for witches?

Meanwhile, Mary continues to be faced with a lot of problems. She almost got trapped in John’s dream, but she got to know the exact location of the Malum at the grave of Giles Corey. She previously lost grip on Mercy until she made her a witch just like her. Now, she is about to have a problem controlling her husband, George Sibley (Michael Mulheren). Can Mary fix this on time? Can she regain her power over Salem despite being compromised?
