A revelation was made by Burt Reynolds this Thursday that he is still smitten with Sally Field, his former girlfriend. He was speaking for the December issue of Vanity Fair. Reynolds said Field was the love of his life.
Just some hours later, Sally Field, 69, heard what Burt had to say but told People Magazine that she would prefer not to reply to the comment made by her former boyfriend. She was at the Women’s Media Center Awards’ red carpet in New York City during that time.
Sally said that she had not heard what Reynolds had to say about her until that moment and she has no response at all. If she wanted to respond, it would only be for Reynolds.
The famous Hollywood couple had dated each other for five years until they split in the eighties. They acted in four movies together.
Both of them went ahead in their respective lives and got married to other people. Reynolds, now 79, got married to Loni Anderson in 1988 but divorced in 1994. Field’s second husband was Alan Geisman. The actress married him in 1984 and has three sons from their marriage.
It was a strange coincidence that both their marriages ended in nineties.
Reynolds apparently told Vanity Fair that even after years, their split was difficult for him. He does not understand why he behaved so stupidly at that time. He said that it was perhaps men’s nature to behave in a stupid manner, as far as their relationships are concerned.
In his heydays, Reynolds had a reputation of being a ladies’ man and dated several women one after the other. The actor confessed to Vanity Fair that part of his problem was that, though he knew about his womanizing ways, he could not change them.
We, like many others are anxiously waiting for Burt’s memoir titled “But enough about me”, which is tipped to release on November 17.
