According to Variety, the “Fault in Our Stars” teen heartthrob Ansel Elgort was swamped with fans who begged the actor for autographs during the premiere of “Men, Women & Children” at the Toronto Film Festival. Read on to know what comedian Adam Sandler has to say about his co-star.
“I’ll give it all to Ansel – I love that kid. He’s a sweet kid and it’s just a nice energy to be around. He wasn’t a superstar when we shot this movie but now he’s certainly having a good time” said Sandler in an article on Variety.
Elgort is known for playing the roles of Tommy Ross in Carrie (2013) and Caleb Prior the brother of the protagonist, Tris, played by Shailene Woodley in Divergent (2014) based on a popular novel by Veronica Roth.
He gained prominence for his role as lead, Augustus Waters in the film adaptation of John Green’s novel The Fault in Our Stars, opposite Shailene Woodley. The film followed the story of Hazel, a teenage cancer patient who is forced by her parents to attend a support group, where she subsequently meets and falls in love with Augustus Waters, an ex-basketball player and amputee. Elgort is also a DJ under the name “Ansølo.”
“Men, Women & Children” is a comedy-drama film directed by Jason Reitman co-written with Erin Cressida Wilson, based on a novel of the same name written by Chad Kultgen. It looks on the sexual frustrations that young teenagers and adults face in today’s world. Sandler stars as a husband whose marriage has gone stale, becoming reliant on porn for sexual satisfaction.
“There’s a lot of stuff out there as a parent you’re nervous about — schools, friends, what they’re getting into – This is just another thing to keep an eye on and it’s there every day to watch” added Sandler who made it clear that his work in the picture had left him feeling more vigilant and aware of the challenges of parenting in the internet age.
Elgort and Sandler are joined by actors Emma Thompson, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jennifer Garner, Judy Greer, Dean Norris, Dennis Haysbert, Olivia Crocicchia, Kaitlyn Dever and Elena Kampouris. The film will receive a limited release on October 3, 2014, before opening wide October 17, 2014.
