‘Scorpion’ Season 2 Episode 2 Recap: ‘Cuba Libre’

“Scorpion” Season 2 Episode 2 “Cuba Libre” aired last Monday, September 28, 2015 at 9:00 PM on CBS. In this episode, the entire team infiltrated Cuba as they raced against time to capture a notorious Croatian war criminal after a woman from Agent Cabe Gallo’s (Robert Patrick) past came to ask them for help. Read on to learn if they succeeded or not.

The episode began with Walter O’Brien (Elyes Gabel) not listening or heeding the advice of his lawyer to plead guilty to negligent driving for the incident that occurred in the first season’s finale.

Meanwhile, downstairs, Toby Curtis (Eddie Kaye Thomas), having nothing to do as Happy Quinn (Jadyn Quinn), wasn’t going out with him, decided to take on Sylvester Dodd (Ari Stidham) as his pet project, and made it his mission to make him realize his feelings for Walter’s sister.

They were then interrupted by Sonia Balasevic (Izabella Miko), a Croatian woman whom Agent Cabe Gallo (Robert Patrick) saved in the past when he went there to bear witness to the war crimes and genocide being committed there. He had saved her by sending her to a good family to adopt.

She then asked for their help to infiltrate Cuba as a man who looked like General Stanislav Zoric (Dimiter D. Marinov) was recently spotted there. They then agreed, as Walter, Sylvester and Happy could create a device in no time that would be able to test any sample of his blood against the blood on the shirt that Sonia had managed to obtain.

Homeland Director Adriana Molina (Alana De La Garza) then decided to help them out on the down low, under the condition that she would disavow them if they were caught.

In Cuba, they met up with Molina’s contacts, who were supposed to bump into the general with a cane with a hidden needle in it which would draw his blood and that could be tested against the blood on the shirt.

However, things became more complicated after their contacts’ car suddenly blew up, forcing the crew to figure out what the general’s next steps would be.

They then realized that he would be going to a little barbershop in an upscale neighborhood. There, if the barber managed to nick Zoric even by a little, they would be able to collect a sample of his blood. However, Zoric’s barber was deaf, so nothing would faze him.

Cabe and Walter then decided to enter and quietly disarm the barber, but Sonia beat them to it first. She then collected the blood, and ended up giving away their presence after Walter and Cabe noticed that she was about to slice his throat. However, they managed to overpower him, and made him take a drug made out of flowers to loosen his tongue, so that he could reveal where he had hidden the electronic ledger which contained all the information of the other war criminals in his network.

They then drove to the bank as it was in a safe deposit box, but they ran into problems as he had gotten knocked out cold by the drug that they gave him.

They then managed to break into the vault and used a sausage with his thumbprint on it to open the box in order to get the ledger. However, they were spotted by the bank manager, who called the police that already looking for them.

With less than half an hour before their plane left, and with the Cuban police on their tail, they rushed towards the plane, but were stalled after the general, who woke up, managed to escape.

Sonia caught up to him, and almost shot him dead, if it weren’t for Cabe.

Back safe in the United Staes, Zoric was tried by the Hague, and the other war criminals were being rounded up with Molina taking credit for everything.

Sylvester then realized that during their ordeal, Toby had gotten him to realize his feelings, which made him realize that Toby, in turn, was afraid of being alone.

Meanwhile, Paige Dineen (Katharine McPhee) made Walter understand that there is always a right time to display emotion.

Thanks to this, he pled guilty during his trial, and ended up meeting Ray Spiewack (Kevin Weisman) while doing community service.
