“Selfie” has released most of its pilot episode online weeks before it premieres, but now, it has come to the small screen in a full episode format. If you missed the pilot episode of the show, then you are on the right page because we have the full recap for you.

Social media acceptance nowadays is kind of a big deal to most of us. As much as we want to stray away from it, we just can’t help but get sucked into it from time to time. And this is what we are going to see on this new TV show, a modern twist to “My Fair Lady.”

Eliza Dooley wasn’t a popular girl back in middle school. In fact, her classmates have called her names including one that pertains to her ugly butt. Being in middle school, it’s stuff like that that you carry until you grow up. One of the best things about Eliza is that she chose to rise above it and prove to her previous classmates and schoolmates how far she have come now and how she doesn’t have that ugly butt anymore by being famous on social media.

The episode kicked off with Eliza on a plane with her coworkers. She works as a lead sales representative for a pharmaceutical company. One of her coworkers, Henry Higgs, was there as well who wasn’t at all crazy about Eliza’s presence. He just can’t stand the fact that Eliza had to post numerous pictures on her social media accounts, even what she had for breakfast. As for Eliza, she doesn’t really care what people have to say because hey, she’s famous online, and she has a boyfriend until she found out that her boyfriend is married. To make matters worse for her, everyone knows about this, yet no one even bothered to tell her. She didn’t take the news very well that she decided to vomit. Just when she was about to go to the bathroom, the airbags exploded all over her and her coworkers. Instead of actually helping her, they brought out their phones and took pictures of her. Eliza then realized that she doesn’t have any real friends in real life.

Yes, she may be famous online, but that’s it. Her online friends won’t come to her aid at times like this. She didn’t realize that she was so preoccupied with social media that she didn’t actually try to make friends with real people that she spends time with at work.

Back at the office, a meeting was being held wherein Sam Saperstein, the president of their company, acknowledged Henry’s awesome rebranding on the nasal spray that gave their company a bad image. Thrilled with the success of the rebranding, Sam invited Henry to go to his daughter’s wedding, and he should bring a date with him. Hearing all about Henry’s brilliance and his ability to turn something negative into a positive one, so she tried to ask him to help her.

Surprisingly, Henry, who wasn’t at all thrilled by Eliza, agreed to help her. Henry told her not to talk about herself all the time and to stop being glued to her phone. He even pushed her to make a conversation with their receptionist. Eliza failed everything, but there’s something about her that Henry finds very intriguing. He asked her to be his date on their boss’ daughter’s wedding.

Henry reminded Eliza not to dress to loud and keep her makeup light. Eliza actually thinks that she doesn’t have any decent clothes in her wardrobe, and all she knows is to apply full makeup on for her selfies. Desperate to please Henry, she asked the help of her neighbor, Brinn. Brinn and her friends helped Eliza with her outfit and makeup, and Henry was impressed. However, he didn’t let that show on his face.

When they got to the wedding, she received a lot of approvals from the guests regarding her look, but that’s it. During the wedding vows, she realized that she won’t find someone to marry that she got anxious and took her phone from her bag during the ceremony, which caused a commotion that Henry didn’t appreciate.

Henry, embarrassed, told Eliza that she’s a hopeless cause, but Eliza fought back to tell him that he’s a boring person and that’s why his ex-GF broke up with him. How did she find out about this? Google. Oh, the Internet! After the fight, the two made up, and Henry agreed on helping her again.
