Sensitive Skin” Season 1 Episode 6 “The Return of the Other Davina” aired on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 at 8:30 p.m. on HBO Canada. The marriage of Davina and Al crumbled, leading to a devastating end. Find out what happened in the season finale in the recap below.

Al received bad news from his doctor: he has a condition called arrhythmia, which meant that his heart was beating faster than it should. The doctor downplayed the seriousness of it, but knowing Al, he would be frantic and paranoid about it, checking for more information of this disease on the internet. He left his doctor’s office feeling bad, but the day just got worse when he saw that he received a parking ticket. He tried to reason with the parking officer, who told him that he was just doing his job. As he was negotiating with him, someone broke into Al’s car and took his bag. Oh, yeah…Al was having a shitty day alright. He drowned this out by drinking Kahlua at home, but where was his wife?

Al was walking with his agent, talking about his column and other mundane stuff about work when suddenly, the same kid who took Al’s bag from his car also took his agent’s. They wanted to chase after him, but the thief was too far gone. Instead, they saw the piano teacher’s bike parked on the street. Al met the piano teacher in the episode “The Old Woman” (air date: July 27, 2014) and right across the street they saw him… kissing Davina (Kim Cattrall).

Throughout the episode, there was a montage of people close to the couple who were telling Davina that leaving Al was the right thing to do.  This montage also alluded that they were in the hospital. Turned out, Davina and Al have separated and she was living with Ronnie (Joanna Gleason), who’s very upset about her affair with the piano teacher because that teacher was supposed to be her own affair.

Ronnie: “He wants you and it’s not because you can cook, or iron, or do online banking. It’s because you can fuck like a rabbit.”

Classic Ronnie, always the bitter one.

Orlando (Nicholas Wright) came to visit his dad at his empty house. He caught him listening to a very sad song and advised him to not indulge in misery. His dad told him an anecdote about the song, which involved the day his mother and him bought his very first bike. Orlando broke down in front of his father, depressed about his parents breaking up.

Al met with Davina one night because she had to hand him an invitation to Roger’s gallery opening. Remember that Roger (Colm Feore) wanted to become an artist (in the episode “Not the Haitian Corpse”)? So, that’s happening.  Al begged his wife to come home and offered to change his ways. But Davina said that the problem was not him. It was her.

Al: “You’re still the person I married.”

Davina left crying hard.

It was Roger’s exhibit and Al was there hoping to catch Davina. He couldn’t believe that Roger was actually becoming an artist. He even sold a few of his work already. Davina wasn’t coming to this event though, and Ronnie told Al that the two of them are pathetic clowns.

Ronnie: “The universe is shitting on us.”

They were outside having a smoke, when Al noticed that someone was trying to break into his car again. This time, he chased after the thief, but stopped short when he couldn’t breathe. Al had a heart attack.

So everyone — from Orlando, to Ronnie, to Roger, to Al’s agent and Davina’s boss at the gallery — were at the hospital and the montage was actually Davina’s delusion, assuring herself that this was not her fault.

The doctor asked to speak to her privately. Al needed angioplasty, but she was not going to lose her husband.

Al was conscious, so Davina took this time to talk to him, sort of hesitating to explain why she had been acting out. But Al knew her. He can read her. He understood what was going through her. Davina started crying and told her husband that all she really wanted now was to be with him and his sensitive skin. Al asked her to climb up his hospital bed and it looked like they were reuniting.

But, as things were picking up, Al suddenly flatlined and this is where the season ended. Will Al survive? Will the show survive a second season?
