Amazon Prime is set to release seven new pilots for its 2015 season. Some big names in the TV industry are attached to these projects. Read on for more about this news story.
As announced in The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon Prime will be offering seven new pilots for 2015. As it was in past pilot seasons for the streaming site, these shows will only move forward to a full season after subscribers have seen the first episode and determine if they would like to see more.
“Mad Dogs” is the US adaptation of the British show created by Cris Cole. Shawn Ryan is tasked to oversee the American production of the dark comedy series, which centers on the reunion of middle-aged male friends that will blow up, leading to a “nightmare of lies, deception and murder.” Steve Zahn, Michael Imperioli, Billy Zane, Ben Chaplin and Romany Malco will star in the show.
“The Man in the High Castle” is another adaptation. Based on the book written by Philip K. Dick, the show is produced by Ridley Scott. The hour-long pilot features an alternative timeline showing what happens after Hitler is undefeated in World War II. “The Man in the High Castle” will feature Alexa Davalos, Rupert Evans, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Luke Kleintank, Joel De La Fuente, Rufus Sewell and DJ Qualls.
“Cocked” is a comedy starring Sam Trammel playing Richard Paxson who comes back to a rural town in Virginia after 20 years. The show also has Jason Lee, Dreama Walker, Laura Frasier and Brian Dennehy as part of the Paxson family.
“Point of Honor” centers on the Civil War and features Nathan Parsons as John Rhodes, the show’s central character. The pilot is written by Carlton Cuse and the show’s stars include Patrick Heusinger, Annabelle Stephenson, Luke Benward, James Harvey Ward, Riley Voelkel, Adrienne Warren, Lucien Laviscount and Hanna Mangan Lawrence.
“Down Dog” is a yoga-centric comedy series written by Robin Schiff. Lyndsy Fonseca and Josh Casaubon will headline the show along with Paget Brewster. The pilot will also feature Kris Kristofferson, Alysia Reiner, Will Greenberg, Andrea Savage and Amir Talai. It’s about a yoga teacher who tries to hook up with moms and LA celebrities, while still attached to his girlfriend.
“Salem Rogers” is about an ex-supermodel who gets reconnected with her former life after a 10-year rehab. The show is led by Leslie Bibb, and she will be supported by Brad Morris, Jane Kaczmarek, Rachel Dratch, Harry Hamlin, Scott Adsit and Toks Olagundoye. The show is written by Lindsey Stoddart.
“The New Yorker Presents” covers the news and stories from the actual magazine. The documentary is being produced by Conde Nast Entertainment and will feature Alan Cumming and Jonathan Demme.
