Fans described Shania Twain as a tough woman after all she’d been through; losing her husband and manager Robert “Mutt” Lunge to her long-time best friend Marie Anne Thiebaud. The affair even made her lose her voice that nearly ended her career.
Many could recall how the famous country singer faced her problem about her public split from his husband Lunge back in 2008. The separation of the couple led to front-page headlines partly because the reason behind the split was because of the infidelity of his husband and her best friend Marie. Her husband would ultimately marry Twain’s best friend.
Based on reports made by New York Daily News, as the result of the affair, Twain developed dysphonia, a psychological syndrome caused her to lose her voice for years. Twain revealed that she never thought she would sing again after discovering that her husband run off with her best friend.
But as her wound heals, another man find his way to her heart and in an ironic twist, Twain fall in love with her best friend Marie’s ex-husband, Federic.
As reported by Inquisitr, the singer said that her marriage to Federic was not out of revenge because happiness is too much important to her and that she just followed her own path, which led her marrying Federic in 2011.
Her experience in her marriage with Lunge was discussed in her memoir “From This Moment On” which was released back in 2011.
According to Examiner, she also revealed in her book her other heartaches and hardships she experienced throughout her life. Shanai touches on the grinding poverty of her rural Canadian childhood; her loss, at 22, both parents in a car crash; illness that silenced her singing voice; and then of course the biggest controversy of her life, the unforgivable betrayal that broke her heart, her marriage and her friendship.
Although Twain maintains a civil relationship with her ex-husband for their son’s welfare, Eja, 13, she has no relationship with her former best friend.
“I don’t see her, ever. I don’t invite that trigger into my life. She’s not my future. She’s my past,” she said in an interview.
Now, Twain is on her farewell tour that will take her all over the country this summer.
