Showtime’s ‘The Affair’ Releases Latest Teaser Trailer and Poster
Dominic West plays McNulty in The Wire. He manages to pull of a pretty good Baltimore accent when in reality he’s from Sheffield. Had a nice chat with him about going to film people who make armour from Sheffield steel. Sept. 22, 2008. Wikimedia Commons/Dominic West/Simon Kisner.

Early in August, Showtime has announced that it will be moving up its upcoming drama series, “The Affair,” to an earlier premiere date. Thus, the show will begin its first season run on the premium cable channel on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at 10:00 p.m., and Showtime has also released its newest teaser and poster. Read on to learn more about this news story.

Starring Dominic West (“The Wire”) and Ruth Wilson (“Luther”) as lovers in an illicit relationship, “The Affair” will explore the emotional effects of two marriages that will be marred by betrayal. Wilson plays Alison, a young married woman working at a Hamptons diner. She’s recovering from a tragedy, and together with her husband, Cole, she’s struggling to put the pieces of her life together again. The young couple’s marriage is so emotionally charged that when Alison becomes involved with Noah (West), who is a married school teacher from New York, her relationship with Cole becomes even more strained. The show also stars Maura Tierney (“ER”) and Joshua Jackson (“Fringe”) as the respective spouses.

As shown in the teaser, which you can watch in the video below, “The Affair” will be told from the perspective of Alison and Noah — two different views that would provide so much more intrigue to the story. Which side is more truthful? The teaser also hints that something bad has happened, and Alison and Noah make their statements to provide clarity to the case. Was someone murdered? Could the two be the perpetrators? The teaser is suggesting that there is more to this show than just the actual affair.

The story is written by Sarah Treem (“House of Cards”), a noted playwright, but the show is based on the ideas from Hagai Levi, whom Treem has worked with in the HBO series “In Treatment.” The two also serve as executive producers.

The show is directed by Jeffrey Reiner (“Friday Night Lights”).

Showtime has also released the poster for “The Affair,” which features the two leads.

Are you intrigued by “The Affair” yet? Tune to its debut on Showtime on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. Check Movie News Guide (MNG) for recaps and updates about this series.
