We’ve all seen how Leonardo DiCaprio took us into a roller coaster of emotions when he brought to life the character on “Shutter Island.” DiCarpio plays the role of U.S. Marshall Teddy Daniels, who investigates the unexplained disappearance of a mentally ill patient. He then went to the Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital to find out more about the missing person. This special hospital is an institution dedicated in treating those who are criminally out of their minds. It is with this loose premise that an all-new
Bearing a different title, “Ashecliffe” is a somewhat prequel to “Shutter Island” as reported by Screen Rant. it is set in a time before the events in the movie transpired. Speculations are suggesting that the production of the upcoming pilot of this possibly invigorating drama series will be headed by award-winning director Martin Scorsese, the same legendary visionary artist who put the 2010 hit mind-boggling film together.
Not only will he be giving a great remark to the creation of this possible pilot, he will also be joined in by original screenwriters, bestselling book’s author Dennis Lehane and Laeta Kalogridis for the penning of the script – talk about a total production rehashing.
Deadline, on the other hand, reported on where the “Ashecliffe” series would. take off. It was said that it will be focusing on the history of the hospital with all of its underground roots of mysterious treatments instigated and performed by its founders to its mentally ill patients during the 20th century.
The creation of this promising series is helmed by the head of Paramount TV Amy Powell – bringing it to Scorsese. Yorn and Chris Donnelly from LBI with Brad Fisher.
Aside from being a co-creator, Fisher is one of the producers of the actual film. He also works with Kalogridis and James Vanderbilt under Mythology Entertainment for the production of the series. Powell even tapped the original creator of the story, Dennis Lehane, who was more than happy to accept the offer of expanding his novel for the series.
As of late, the “Shutter Island”-based series is not yet set in stone with Scorsese prepping for his upcoming adaptation from Shusako Endo entitled, “Silence.”
