In the aftermath of the events of the slap, Manolis Apostolou (Brian Cox) discovered that he couldn’t sleep. It was until he tried to fix things before it became messy. The next day, he told his wife, Koula (Maria Tucci), that he would go on a coffee run. He used to sell coffee, and his wife told him to visit Dimitrios (Angelo Niakas). He is a dear friend of his that he hadn’t seen in a long time.
He then paid a visit to Thanassis (Michael Nouri), a good friend and a lawyer. After confiding to him regarding the incident and its aftermath, Thanassis reassured him. He told him that Manolis, his son Hector (Peter Sarsgaard), and his nephew Harry (Zachary Quinto) should continue discussing this over lunch at his club that coming Monday.
While this happened, Rosie (Melissa George) and Gary Weshler (Thomas Sadoski), accompanied by Aisha Apostolou (Thandie Newton) met with the prosecutor assigned to their case-Assistant District Attorney Bridget Saltire (Ellen Adair). She told them that they would have a stronger case if there had been more than once incident that showed that Harry was violent and had a temper. They were also warned that the judge might ask questions regarding Hugo (Dylan Schombing) as well.
That Sunday, Harry and Hector agreed to go with Manolis to meet Thanassis the next day. It was after learning that Aisha had gone with Rosie to the Assistant District Attorney’s office. Manolis tried to gently suggest to her that her family, including Harry, was more important than her friends. It was even if she and Rosie were best friends. Meanwhile, at the Weshler household, Rosie tried to gently tell Hugo that bashing his truck into the wall wasn’t good. Gary, who was busy painting, closed the door on them.
The next day, over lunch, Manolis and Hector started to become uncomfortable. Thanassis began telling them all the not so good details of Rosie and Gary. However, Harry liked the fact that Thanassis wasn’t afraid to attack the Weshlers with all the dirt that Thanassis could find on them and decided to take on Thanassis as a lawyer. Afterwards, Manolis apologized to Hector. He was becoming conflicted as Rosie was Aisha’s best friend. However, Hector just told his father to go home.
Manolis then dropped by Aisha’s clinic as his heart had started beating unexpectedly fast. While waiting for her, he was able to talk a little to Connie (Makenzie Leigh), who seemed to know a lot about Hector. Inside, Aisha informed him that his heart was alright and told him to have a follow-up check-up with his regular doctor. Afterwards, Manolis tried to persuade Aisha to talk to Rosie to drop the case. Aisha refused to as it would weigh on her conscience broke up cause she knew that Harry was capable of more violence. She then revealed to Manolis that Harry had hit his wife, Sandi (Marin Ireland) seven years ago. She only knew that because Sandi had gone to her to be treated. They then agreed never to talk about it again, and Sandi hid makeup as much as she could.
Shocked by this revelation, he confronted Harry about it, but he denied that that had happened. Afterwards, he decided to visit his oldest friend, Dimitrios, who was diagnosed with a terminal illness. The two old friends danced, laughed, hugged, and drank with each other, and Manolis apologized for not coming over sooner.
Afterwards, he went home, and to his surprise, Koula knew that he had gone to see Dimitrios. He then told her that he was sorry that he tried to involve Thanassis in Harry’s case. Because of everything that had been happening, he wondered if they did enough to raise Harry and Hector to be good people. She then told him that it wasn’t their job anymore to worry and fix their mistakes as they were capable of taking care of themselves and that they didn’t need them anymore. Koula then told him that the person who does need him at the moment is her.
Later that night, Hector and Aisha slept together, and Manolis finally fell asleep with nothing to worry about. At Harry’s house, Sandi read a book in bed and put her hair behind one ear, which revealed the scar that had been left behind when Harry had hit her seven years ago.
