Sleeper agent is back with a single, the buoyant “Waves,” coming from yet an untitled second album, due out for release early next year on RCA Records and Mom + Pop.
Talking about this new number, Sleeper Agent’s Tony Smith said that “Waves” is all about a private apocalypse. “It’s about closing chapters of the past and watching all you knew crumble before you,” Tony Smith told Rolling Stone.
The band will hit the road early next year with “New Politics” and “Magic Man” on an extensive five week run of U.S. live dates. The trek will premiere on January 14th in Houston, TX and conclude on February 19th at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, CA.
“We’re all extremely excited to be kicking off our new record by touring with New Politics,” said Tony Smith. “We’re finally going to be able to share this new record with everyone and we absolutely cannot wait to get back on stage! I’m so anxious to see everyone who supported us through the last record and meet some new faces as well. We’ll see you soon!” (Via BWW)
This forthcoming second studio album will follow up the Kentucky group’s well-received 2011 Mom + Pop debut, Celebrasion. The album immediately garnered the affectionate attention and featured on the pages of Rolling Stone, SPIN, Alternative Press and many more. Sleeper Agent also won MTVu’s 2012 Freshman Award while it was ranked at Number Two “Best New Band” category in the 2012 Rolling Stone Reader’s Poll. The singer Alex Kandel was also nominated for Rolling Stone’s “Women Who Rock” contest the same year.
