Episode 4 "Go Where I Send Thee" sends Ichabod and Abbie Mills to face off against a mysterious adversary, the Pied Piper, a mythical figure found in children stories, which have been haunting the Lancaster family for generations.

First off, it’s a relief to see Ichabod finally learning how to drive, gaining mastery over the “power of three hundred horses” with a mere action of his right foot. Ichabod receives an “Amber Alert” for a missing child, Sarah, the 10-year-old daughter of Abbie’s former foster care case worker.

The Lancasters have been terrorized by the Pied Piper for ages. Not the Pied Piper of Hamelin like in the stories, but a Colonial era man-turned-demon who whisks 10-year-old girls from the Lancaster family. Learning of the curse, Ichabod and Mills set out to the woods to find out clues on their adversary.

Ichabod and Abbie find a flute carved out from a bone. Picking it up, Ichabod starts to play a tune which incidentally brings Abbie in a trance. Before she wanders off, Ichabod snaps her out of it.

Back at the archives, Ichabod and Abbie learn that the music produced by the flute is a summoning spell, the tune lures away people and sends them to the Piper’s lair. Using that knowledge, Ichabod prepares a recorded loop on his phone, which he and Abbie use to find the piper.

At the woods, they find Hawley wounded. Hawley has been looking for the flute and, while on his search, stumbles upon the Piper who took the girl. He confronted the mysterious figure, only to find himself badly injured. Learning that Ichabod and Abbie possess his coveted merchandise, Hawley agrees to help them out in exchange for the flute.

Meanwhile at the Psych ward, Irving tries to research about the Horseman of War. While reading the bible, he glimpses a vision of an apocalyptic future where he fights for the Rider. The bible bursts into flames.

Ichabod, Abbie and Hawley stumble upon the Piper’s lair, where they are able to rescue the girl and confront the demon. Barely surviving the encounter, Abbie is set to end things, but Hawley’s had enough going, “That was fun, but gimme the bone now, please.” Abbie breaks the bone in half before handing the flute.

Back at the Archives, Ichabod and Abbie find out that if the Piper can’t take the family’s 10-year-old daughter each generation, he’ll kill all of the children of the family via illness. They set out to find the mother and daughter in the woods. The mom is willing to sacrifice her daughter for the sake of her other children. Abbie and Ichabod talk her out of it, until the Piper shows up.

Ichabod pursues the Piper in his lair, showing off his swordsmanship. Losing his earpiece, which nulls out the high-pitched sound attack by the piper, he then succumbs to the attack, until Abbie shows up, shoving the staff through the Piper’s chest, effectively killing him.

Back at the Asylum, Henry visits Irving, who is angered with his trick. He tries to ask what are Henry’s plans for him, to which Henry suggests that he find solace at the teachings of the bible, giving out the verse Ezekiel 18:4. Irving reads, “Behold all souls are mine.” Things are looking pretty ominous for Irving.

Meanwhile, Abbie and Ichabod celebrate their win with a cup of cappuccino, to which Ichabod calls a “sadistic larceny of paying so much for a gaudy hillock of overheated milk atop a thimble-full of coffee,” but changes his demeanor after tasting the beverage.
