Smurfs: The Lost Village is coming up soon at your nearest theater so get ready to have a hearty laugh with the cute beloved Smurfs. The upcoming animated adventure comedy is a reboot of the franchise which will bring all the characters together. Sony Pictures Animation had made a perfect computer graphics to create the ideal environment for the film.

Smurfs: The Lost Village Storyline

Smurfette, the only female Smurf begins her journey to find the objective and existence of their village. She stumbles upon a similar creature like her who leave a mysterious map for her in the Forbidden Forest. There are many more smurfs like them and she sets off on a journey with her best friends to find them.

Hefty, Clumsy and Brainy accompany her on the journey which is full of adventures. They come across mysterious places and weird experiences which lead them finally to the new world. But, it won’t be that easy for them as they will have to face a villainous character on their way that is also looking for The Lost Village of Smurfs.

Smurfette finally finds out a whole tribe of female counterparts led by a leader known as SmurfWillow. It concludes with Meghan Trainor’s soundtrack titled as I’m a Lady that signifies girl power (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Smurfs: The Lost Village is originally based on comic book series of Belgian artist Peyo which is titled as The Smurfs.

Trailer

The trailer gives a super fantastic look of how the overall film is going to be. Extremely colorful, giggles in between and action packed. But the fans will not be able to guess whether Smurfette will be able to find more Smurfs like her or not. It still remains a mystery for everyone. The first half of the trailer gives a brief introduction of the character while the second half focuses on their journey.

What Makes The Film Different From The Previous Ones?

The upcoming film is very different from the previous ones in many ways. This is a standalone film which is completely done with the help of computer graphics animation. Unlike previous movies which were a combination of CGI and live action. It is not a sequel and has an entirely different and independent storyline.

The film reflects the idea of Smurf’s origin and their existence. Most of the artwork of the film is said to have inspired from the work of the original creator of these characters Peyo. All the characters, designs and backdrops are designed in accordance with the original creations of the comic book series. The first look of the film has been appreciated widely by fans and critics.

Creative Team & Cast Members

The film is directed by Shrek 2 fame director Kelly Asbury. Indeed the film is rights hand and seems like one of the best films of the franchise so far. Along with the direction, he has also voiced one Nosey Smurf in the film. On the other hand, the scripting is done by Stacey Harman and Pamela Ribon.

Singing sensation Demi Lovato will voice cast Smurfette. Other cast members include Rainn Wilson, Joe Manganiello, Jack McBrayer, Danny Pudi and Mandy Patinkin. Notting Hill actress Julia Roberts and Michelle Rodriguez will be seen the special roles of SmurfWillow and SmurfStorm.

Release Date

The film has been delayed a number of times for several reasons, it was initial set to be released in August 2015. Hopefully, fans will be able to see the best version of the upcoming film. Smurfs: The Lost Village is now slated to be released on April 7, 2017.
