Sony Pictures has finally brought out release dates for all the 16 films it has filmed recently and are queued to get released. These release dates are set throughout 2016 and 2017 and even beyond that. Among its 16 films, only one movie, “The Lamb”, an animal-animated movie inspired by the Christian nativity story has finally received a release date.
This Sony Pictures Animation movie took a whole four months to gain a director, reports Rotoscopers.
Deadline reports that according to a press release by the studio, announcements have been made that Tim Reckart, an Oscar nominated director, will make his directorial debut with “The Lamb” . The movie will contain the original plot by Tim Sheridan and will be produced by DeVon Franklin by his Franklin Entertainment Banner.
Reckart, came into limelight in the animation industry after the short film named “Head Over Heels”. It received a lot of approbation and won the first Annie Award for Best Student Film.
“The Lamb” is the second film after “Get Smurfy” to be released in 2017. The Sony animation company went through some scandals related to hacking and some problems in the managerial positions, under the president of production Michelle Raimo Kouyate. This drawback resulted in the stepping down of the company from the position where it initially stood.”The Lamb” was among the last project that was to be developed.
Kristine Belson succeeded over her in the company and since then steps were taken to rebuild the Sony Animation after the hard phase. Reports say that recently they have been provided with the right to an animated feature based on Emoji.
The list states “The Lamb” to hit the box office on December 8,2017 in the same month as DreamWorks Animation”s “The Croods 2”, which stand to be released in December 22,2017.
