Tom Holland already has a wishlist of characters he wants to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Weeks before the premiere of his new movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, the 20-year-old revealed which comic book characters he wants to fight in the inevitable sequel from Marvel.

Spider-Man’s Homecoming Will Not Be Easy

There has been quite a number of movies starring everyone’s favorite web-slinger. In the past decade alone, Holland is already the third actor to appear as Peter Parker on the big screen. However, while in comic books, the teen hero has encountered a number of villains in his fifty-year career.

But, not a lot of these villains eventually transitioned to the big screen. That is why Marvel and Sony made the decision to introduce Vulture, a villain who has never been seen in a movie, to antagonize young Peter Parker in his homecoming in the MCU.

In an interview with Brazilian entertainment portal CinePOP, Holland talked about how it was a dream to play the iconic superhero on the big screen. He also revealed which comic book villains he wants to see in Spider-Man: Homecoming 2.

“There’s so many good villains,” the actor commented. “I really like Mysterios, I like Kraven. I really like the clone saga. I think it could be really cool if Peter, or Spider-Man has to fight people with the same powers as him. Spiderwoman’s super cool if Peter, or Spider-Man has to fight people with the same powers as him. Spiderwoman’s super cool… I think she’s called SpiderGirl who is his clone. They kind of like hit it off and they take their masks off and they’re like… ‘What the hell!’ They’re like the same person, but she’s just a girl. I think that’s really cool.”

Spider-Man: Homecoming already has more than one villain aside from Michael Keaton’s Vulture. The movie will also feature Shocker and Tinkerer.

No doubt, Marvel has to bring the sequel a notch higher. Usually, in the sequel, Sony brings out familiar villains like Doctor Octopus and, the studio’s favorite, the Green Goblin. But choosing a villain who, in many ways, is like Peter Parker would definitely be a fresh and exciting direction for the franchise.

Zendaya Speaks About Mary Jane Rumors

In other news, Zendaya shot down the on-going rumor that she will play Mary Jane opposite Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming. One other thing that Marvel decided to change in the new movie is to expand the world that Peter Parker lives in.

So instead of familiar characters like Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane, Peter’s circle includes Ned Leeds, Betty Brant and Michelle. At the 2017 MTV Movie & TC Awards, the 20-year-old was asked about her character and she swore that she is not Peter’s red-headed girlfriend.

“My character is 100 percent Michelle,” the actress said. She added that she preferred the role over Mary Jane because director Jon Watts has so many brilliant ideas to make her interesting and cool. She said Michelle is a character she can make her own.

Michelle, from the trailer, is the odd one out. She is not exactly the campus crush and she does not care. She does not seem to be impressed by Peter Parker, either.

Another rumor recently came out that claims that Angourie Rice will actually play the role of Gwen Stacy, Peter’s first love. However, whether Marvel is hiding the arrival of Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy in the cinematic universe, fans will only know when the movie hits theaters on July 7.

Spider-Man: Homecoming also stars Marisa Tomei, Martin Starr, Logan Marshall-Green, Bokeem Woodbine, Hannibal Buress and Robert Downey Jr. The movie is directed by Jon Watts.
