Marvel’s The Defenders were still a no-show in Avengers: Infinity War months after the ensemble movie started filming in Atlanta. However, it looks like there is a chance of a crossover in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Movie producer Eric Carroll admitted that he also want to see Peter Parker fight alongside Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil.

From TV to the Big Screen

It seems like Marvel is adamant to keep Daredevil and the rest of The Defenders on television despite the group’s growing popularity. While the studio insists that the heroes of Netflix exist in the same universe as Iron Man and Captain America, fans should not expect Jessica Jones or Luke Cage to show up in the grand battle against Thanos. The TV heroes have their problems to face in the upcoming The Defenders movie which is set to premiere on Aug. 18.

The obvious separation of movie heroes and TV heroes prevent some exciting team-ups from happening. For example, Daredevil and Spider-Man, who have collaborated a number of times in the comic book universe, would be amazing to see fight alongside each other on-screen.

But while it looks like there will be no Daredevil or The Defenders Easter Egg in Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans should not lose hope that a crossover will happen. In an interview with CinemaBlend, Carroll revealed that he would like to see Matt Murdock and Peter Parker work together.

“[Daredevil] not specifically referenced in this movie, no,” he admitted. “I think that’s something we all think would be really fun, and it’s definitely a card I would love to see played, if not sooner rather than later. But as of now, it’s not referenced in this movie.”

The revelation that there will not be a Daredevil Easter Egg in Spider-Man: Homecoming comes as no surprise. This is not the first time that the topic was brought up, but Marvel still does not have a plan to introduce The Defenders to the rest of the MCU. Even Charlie Cox has abandoned all hope of ever seeing himself and his colleagues on the big screen.

Daredevil and the Avengers

However, joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is not something that Matt Murdock wants. In an interview with radio program Film and Telly Stuff With Luke and Al (via Heroic Hollywood), the 34-year-old revealed how Daredevil will react to the Avengers.

Cox admitted that he went back to read Civil War before the movie came out and figured out how Daredevil fit in with the Avengers. The actor admitted that his character will not be able to compete with, say, Thor or Doctor Strange. The Man Without Fear does not have similar superhuman abilities. But Cox found out that the street-level hero played an important role in Civil War.

“[H]is role as a device within Civil War is really effective and he maintains his character,” he stated. Because it worked in the comics, Cox is optimistic that fans will see Daredevil with the Avengers on the big screen. “Maybe one day,” he added.

In the meantime, Matt Murdock is getting ready to face his toughest opponent yet in Marvel’s The Defenders on Netflix. He will team up with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) to face a still-unrevealed threat to be portrayed by Sigourney Weaver.

Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rachel Taylor, Eka Darville, Simone Missick, Jessica Henwick, Elodie Yung, Scott Glenn, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Rosario Dawson also appear.
